After looking for the thread, the $209 price was the Abyss Blue SE. This is similar to what happened last year with the Series 6 where the Product RED SE was on sale for much lower price than other colors due to lower demand.
When you compare Apple Watch prices, you need to be comparing same model. The 44mm isn't a 40mm, and the blue isn't the silver. The 'deal' you're referring to is equivalent to clearance.
