Note i'm a little gunshy at this point. I just don't find it that exciting to spend this kind of cash on such an old video card. i get it though mining and it's a hobby. deals are relative etc etc. I'd have felt a lot more comfortable with the tradeoffs for 6-700 personally.
Mainly i'm sharing my personal experience because everyone says that about this card. It's true, but if you undervolt it works. I also feel like installing a non OC bios would be idea. I don't feel it's worth the tradeoff in noise and hassle. I feel like at a 3080 oc seems a bit redundant. If you haven't tried these cards ddr6x is like nuclear fusion. I think i'm liking the 6800xt prices a bit more. it's more than 100 less, but i'm also a believer in fsr 2. though i've never seen the fine wine thing work out, i think this also might be the time we finally see that! This is a little faster in probably more cases. Also i was extremely disappointed with Ray Tracing. It's not bad, i just expected a miracle. had i expected less i'd have liked that better. I would only get the 6800xt personally though if it's 80-100 cheaper i'd say. It's just an easier card to manage IMO.

it's about 100 less. I'd give that a hard look, or the 3080 12gb version of the same if you care about ray tracing and such.
Good luck. it's not a bad card. i just didn't like it.

The ASUS TUF cards have been excellent in my experience, so perhaps their 3080 is better as well.

My other point is if you can possibly find a way to do it try ray tracing and see if you like it first. I was very underwhelmed, so then i was wondering why i was dealing w/ all the heat and noise. Also if they would not have overclocked the card it could have worked too. I just want to play reasonable games in silence. Maybe i don't even care anymore.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say one more thing. Give the xbox a try. I didn't see a huge difference there either, and it was only 400 bucks. I know the specs aren't as good, but personally i think it's worth looking and waiting a little longer on the gpus. This is kind of a deal but it's still a 700 dollar video card. I don't know recession, people getting laid off, it didn't rock my world. I think maybe i should just keep watching. If we start seeing like the asus, or evga stuff REALLY drop those are the brands i've had better luck with. For 50 i think i'd rather have a quiet card. It was loud. ASUS has always been fantastic. I have a massive love fest with EVGA. I think i need to see more 600 or so at this stage. They'll still make some money with that, and i don't' feel quite so stressed out writing out a check for a grand almost with tax. For that kind of money i want perfection.
Again though It did have a nice metal backplace. i could see some people liking this esp if your the kind of person that has those insanely loud fans in your case anyway. I might have a lower tolerance for that. It sounded a lot like sitting in a server room. I don' t know how a think the size of a shoe can make so much noise.
