I was debating on buying it from Amazon for $95 ($135 minutes the current Amex $40 off promo). But now I'm glad I held off. Thanks a bunch !

I have to say that I've had pretty darn good experience with aftermarket makita batteries. they don't fit as snugly but no problems so far.

Out of curiosity, is there any particular aftermarket one that you have liked?

I've been tempted, but run into many reviews that they work at start, then quickly fade or simply stop.

All after market batteries are junk. I learnt that the hard way - after spending 100s on them. They will fail within the year - when you call the Seller that originally advertised a 1-2YR warranty - they are either already out of business or no longer selling the same product. They work ok for 6 months and wont charge after that. All Amazon reviews are from folks that either got the battery for free or thrilled at saving the quick buck. NO NO NO to after market batteries. Spend money on OEM products and they will last a while and that applies to most premium brands.

Maybe.. I own 8 5amp batteries so I definitely believe in oem too. But when I got my lxt vac I really wanted more of the 2ah batteries like I had for my subcompacts. Unfortunately I need those for work... But they are 60 each!! I watched a video where some guy bought a bunch of aftermarket batteries and cut them open. Turned out a few brands had decent cells... So I bought one from that brand. Guess I'll see in a few months... I've used them over half a year
