I think you must be confusing bonded leather with top grain. Top grain is a single piece of leather and lasts 10-20 years. Bonded leather is scraps of leather glued to a substrate. You never want bonded leather for anything that will be heavily used; otherwise it will last about a year.

How the heck do they not have pics of both colors, let alone one pic total. The reviewers who took time to write out the most are saying it's uncomfortable.

Edit: I guess they read my comment there's a pic for both colors now.

Definitely a week point is where the plu switches with the leather.
Double check Costco warranty too. My experience is warranty time is only what the manufacturer states.. Then it's up to your Costco manager and if they still carry the exact same piece. The manager would not cover my Lane leather chair after 4yrs because they did not carry it anymore.

where are the controls for the recliner? Are they on the outer part or the inner part of the sofa.

Everyone has different preferences, but after buying quite expensive high quality leather theater seats (full grain), I have found I dislike the feel. Much prefer (micro)suede and velvet upholstery for comfort, and likely cheaper to boot.

I had same issue, Costco wouldn't cover unless manufacturer still continue to sell exact same model. My leather sofa set has synthetic leather around seats/behind which started disintegrating and peeling after 3 years and Costco didn't accept return.
If you want a leather sofa, go for all leather.
