I clicked the link that says 25% off with trade in. I selected my old echo dot 3rd gen which says $5 for the trade in. I proceeded to checkout and the total was $16.xx after trade.

I was able to cancel my echo show 5 and order the echo show 8 whilst keeping the 25% off trade in discount + my trade in gift card.

I got the instant 25% discount + $5 off, but I don't have any echo to trade in.

Is there any penalty if we don't send anything in?

I can solve everybody's trade in problems. Just talked to Amazon and the rep. He said if you've ever done a trade in before you will not get an instant trade in. It sounds ass backwards and It's not fair but that's the breaks!

Any Amazon device trade in? I've traded in Kindle's twice in the past to get the additional % off and this deal worked for me.

However, this is my first echo trade in.

That rep is not entirely correct, Ive done 3 trade ins over the years before this (a gen 1 and 2 gen 2 dots), still got the show 8 deal today.
He probably meant *recently*, but who knows.

This is not correct, I have the primary account and was not able to get the instant discount. I checked it on a household member account and it worked for the instant discount. Only problem is I decided I wanted the 8 the more comments I read and cannot cancel the 5 bundle. Oh well, 11.04 after tax isn't bad, thanks op!
