As much as I use Mac as my primary OS for laptops. Why is this a bad deal? Ryzen 7 58XX series? (Is it not the same as desktop just a strained down a bit?)

16GB DDR4 @ 3200 speed?

Mobile GPU probably isn't the best but it's on a 1080p IPS display.

On paper for less than $700, isn't this a deal?

There is a downvote at my time of writing this

The display is pretty dim but overall I agree, it's a decent price for what appears to be good computer.

Dim display, weak battery, silver keyboard, too many known HP hinge problems (can't say that applies here, but hard to know which it doesn't apply to anymore). Yes, decent CPU and RAM, though vega7 is weak as Ryzen iGPUs go.

From the reviews:

"Is this laptop decent for playing games such as COD, Fortnite, etc?

1answer:
Thank you for your question! For best results in gaming, a laptop with a dedicated graphics card is recommended. This HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eh2097nr does not feature a dedicated graphics card and while it may play some games it will not perform well when playing high graphic content games like COD and other AAA games.

Very soon we will see this feature coming to these type of laptops. I have the 4700u model of this laptop (from a few years back) and love it. Just holding old for another usb c port and having one of them as a power port would make me upgrade.

I bought similar HP laptop from Costco for $549 - same config not sure about model. I love this laptop except for the backlit keyboard. The silver keys with white backlit doesn't work well. Other thing I miss is the fingerprint reader. I mainly use it for work and it is lightweight and battery life is about 4 hours.

I pretty much swore off HP computers, they look cool design-wise but their build quality and ventilation/cooling is not good at all. I suggest looking at other gaming laptops unless they have improved their build design & quality (I am not holding my breath)

I think it's because there's several other deals of better priced laptops right now

The Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 14" laptop refurbished for $510 is a great deal - the screen will be so much better than this HP.
