for the most part, its safe to asume that nothing will work directly plugged into a solar panel. you need a panel, charge controller and battery. what comes out of a solar panel is wildly erratic. you need the charge controller to even out the incoming power and distribute said power. you need a battery to hold the power so it can continue to have a steady output when the sun goes behind a cloud.

I have one and it works great, even for laptops. Every modern laptop AC adapter will handle the output from these things like a champ. At $10 this is an absolute steal. Add a couple other items from DTO to make the flat $13 shipping charge worth it.
