I upgraded to the Fenix 6 with the GameStop deal and have loved it. This is my 5th Garmin activity watch over the last 8 years or so and I don't see anything changing with my choice of brands moving forward. If this was another $75-$100 off, I wouldn't even hesitate to pull the trigger on it and return this base Fenix 6. Still a good deal here but hard to justify an almost $200 price jump for the sapphire version when I paid around $240 for the base model. If you missed the GameStop deal, this is a solid price

Nice deal! I picked up the Fenix 6 Pro Solar from Costco [costco.com] on 6/4/22 for $499.99 (showing $589.99 now, $90 off promo must have ended) so if you're not in a hurry to grab one and are a Costco member, you may watch that product page to see if they add a new promo soon.

Music can be a game changer for some. Having music transmitted directly to earbuds (or Aeropex!) means you can leave your phone at home

I was disappointed with my forerunner 235 it had bugs and issues all the way from when I first bought it back in 2017. Battery died last year. I was expecting much more from Garmin so I looked around and decided to switch to Amazfit, just got the T-rex pro for about 130$. On paper it can do almost everything as a Fenix 6. I realized that spending several hundreds of $ for a watch that will likely only last 3 or 4 years depending on battery is not for me

The sapphire version also has mapping and WiFi which the regular Fenix 6 lacks. For someone who needs mapping the 6 is a no-go.

No that one was fenix 6 gorilla glass not sapphire.
I actually bought and have it right now on my wrist.
Final cost was 235 after tax.
I'm loving it.

I debate on the same thing and tried my hand at a couple off-brands myself. After heavy research, I was working to invest in the science and metrics that Garmin incorporates and how well they do it compared to others. I have an exercise science degree so basing data and feedback without the right programming to back it up just defeated the point with many other brands. Garmin definitely isn't perfect but there is a good reason they manage to keep being one of the industry leaders for serious activity trackers.
Those Amazefit devices are super compelling for the price, I'll agree. For the average person, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. For those that really want to invest in the most accurate health/fitness days, Garmin was the only choice for me and worth the extra money. To each their own
