Bought one of these last time this deal was alive and so far so good. Laptop looked like new with just a couple pixels on screen that were brighter than the others. Believe this model has one open slot to add or RAM and two memory slots total. Removing the bottom panel to access memory and storage for upgrades is pretty straightforward and there are videos on YouTube.
Was NOT impressed with the flimsy method of packing the laptop for shipping. Cheap single layer cardboard box. The laptop was inserted into a loop of long air pillows fashioned into a pouch. I've seen laser toner shipped like that but never a laptop shipped in such a way. Been thinking that the few pixels on the screen on my laptop which are brighter than others may be damaged caused by the flimsy method in which it was packed for shipping but cannot say for sure.
One other thing! Zoom does NOT support virtual backgrounds with the Ryzen 3 processors. Or at least not yet. So if you're planning to use this for Zoom meetings you'll need an actual green screen behind you if you want to do tricks with the backgrounds.
All in all I'd buy it again. Curious if anyone has ever used the AllState eBay warranty for any reason and if so how it went. Thanks!

I have a loaded Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen 4 and an older but upgraded i7 Acer Predator (32GB RAM each), but debating getting a knockaround laptop (not 100% sure what I will be using it for - have some ideas - but at these prices...).
Is the Acer 5 with the Intel Core i51135G7 worth $90 more than this Ryzen 3 3350U? ($308 vs $219)?
The i5 version also comes with 8GB of RAM, but I may get a 16GB stick for $48 and then the extra 4GB would be moot because one of the 4GB sticks in the i5 would need to be removed...
CPU benchmarks show the Ryzen to only perform to about 57% of the level of Core i5 on the benchmark tests where results were returned for the Ryzen. https://www.cpu-monkey.com/en/com...en_3_3350u

The i5 1135g7 is definitely worth the $90 extra. Double the ram, double the hd space and the processor is almost double like you said. 5883 benchmark for the Ryzen 3 vs 10090 for the i5. One thing to note though is that this ryzen one is 15.6" and i5 is 14" if that matters but I pulled the trigger on the i5 cause it's double the laptop for less than 50% of the price more

Thanks for confirming my justification! Yes, the SSD is also 512GB vs 256GB like you said.
And I am slightly leaning towards the 14" (already have a 17.3 1080P and a 16" WQXGA laptop).

Agreed. I'm an AMD fan, and I use a 6-core/12-thread Ryzen laptop as my daily driver, but for an extra $90, this particular Intel chip is a lot faster, and for websurfing, etc., you probably don't absolutely need to do any upgrades with the machine that comes with 8GB and the bigger hard drive. I would have trouble adjusting to the 14" screen since I have gotten so used to 17.3", but in this case, the Intel machine is the better value. The 3350U is quad-core, but its not hyper-threaded, and is an older, very low-end Ryzen. In this case, go for the 11th gen i5 if choosing between the two (if you can live with the smaller screen).
That said, if you want to spend another $100 or so over and above the i5 machine, you can probably do a lot better. But if your budget is about $300 and you just need a small websurfing machine for a kid or an elderly relative, the i5 is a good value.

Can you point me to the deal, or did I miss the boat? Looking for a no-frill one for a middle-schooler with minimal gaming (Minecraft at most). Thanks in advace!
