As your uncooked rice gets older it may dry out. If you notice that your cooked rice is harder and less sticky, you can increase your water/rice ratio to increase your cooking time so it will be softer.

Also, those pesky rice weevils will invade the rice if not properly sealed. If so, just rinse before you cook and they float to the top for easy disposal in the sink. 😉

How long will this rice last for once you open the bag? I live by myself.

Idk, I'll let others chime in who are in the know. I've seen on other threads, ppl say rice lasts forever, and also some mention freezing it, and others say they use air-tight containers others say you don't need to do anything but rinse it before each use. I do the last option and have never had issues with ANY rice, style, etc. I bought. Of course, I always reseal the bag, then just rinse the portion I'm going to cook. nod

Depends on how often you will be eating it. If it is once per day, you are looking at roughly 3 months.

I've eaten them 6 months after purchase without any issues. Just keep it dry and sealed container

You can put them in freezer bags and toss them in the freezer no problem, in case there any moths/bugs

Basmati rice is the only one that doesn't contribute to fast rising glucose issues. Research it. Basmati is the healthiest white rice

Nishiki is musenmai which means no washing is necessary. This is my go to rice in drought, save water, most modern rice cooker have measurements for "rinsk-free".

It's only 15 lbs, not 50 lbs. You should go through rather quick. If not, place it in airtight container if possible.

Wow, this is a rare item that actually decreased in price since I added it to my S&S in Feb $11 vs $13. Cancelled the old S&S and replaced it with this one. My wife (Thai) really goes through the rice and other than the Thai Jasmine rice, this is her favorite.
