Main differences: 120 Hz screen, better speakers, face ID, Thunderbolt port. However, honestly for most users that's not worth the $200+ premium over the Air 5, which is the sweet spot right now, with the same internals (M1 and 8GB RAM). Apple sells that with educational discount (they don't check) at $550, and you get a $100 Apple gift card that many will value at face value. I bought the Pro a couple of months ago when it was this same price (and Air 5 was close to full price), but right now I'd take the Air 5, no question.

BTW I prefer the touch ID on the Air - I use the tablet mostly in landscape orientation, where my hands are constantly covering the face ID sensors on the Pro.

Why the -1 deal score? Seems like the going rate is either $749 or $799.

who knows... CCC shows the price was reduced today. It was last at this price for just a few days in June and hit FP.

Only thing I can think of is that the new models may be announced in September but it's the same thing every year. People say to wait.

If you have the Best Buy Total Tech protection plan, this has been $699 (both colors) for several weeks now and is still at this price. Plus Apple Care comes with it free. I just bought the silver (my old one was very old, still functioning, but no Apple Pencil functionality, which I wanted for an upcoming conference.) There will "always" be new. I thought about waiting but took the plunge.

Might be the smaller form factor. When my 2nd Gen iPad Pro 12.9 started getting too old, I thought I would save money by going to the new 11" iPad Pro, but I was so used to the screen real estate of the 12.9" that the 11 was too small and claustrophobic, especially for creating art on. I returned it and bit the bullet to buy the 12.9" again (although it was the 2021 version, not the M1 version, so I saved a little there.)

Cool do not need any of that! Just nice screen around 10.5-11" to read comics on and use internet. So gonna get an Air, PRO seems WAY to much unless you have money to throw away

For just reading comics and the like, you might also consider the Air 4, which is at $380. That has the A14 processor and 4GB RAM, but it's going to handle comics and browsing fine for a long, long time.

do you guys think apple would release a refreshed ipad pro after back to school promo, or skip them entirely this year? i am stuck with apple.com due to having a substantial amount in gift card and I would not want to miss their bts promo. oh well.
