Folks on FB marketplace are still asking $1300 for used Mavic 2S fly more combos, smh.

For anyone wondering, this has a better camera than the mini 3 pro. The only reason to get a mini 3 pro over this is the mini is sub 249 grams which negates registration and requirement for remote ID broadcast starting next fall.

Doesn't the Mini 3 have a better sensor? Which (i thought i'm new to this stuff) mattered more for high quality pics?

Another reason is access to the extended flight batteries. The Air 2S wins on pretty much everything else unless you have a specific need for vertical filming.

why do you keep bring up "remote id?" for the purposes of this thread and this discussion and buying these drones, there is no such thing as remote id. drone flyers do have no need to even know what "remote id" is. and some of us think it's overrated and going to have zero impact on recreational drone use. there is practically no difference between the air2s and the mini 3 with an extended battery when it comes to registration and compliance. people are worried about real things like flight time, camera quality, and other drone performance-related features. it's not a caveat.

FAA regulations are "no such thing"? I take it you're the type to fly wherever and whenever you want, regardless of weather rules and airspace regulations as well?

You're right, there is no difference between registration requirements between the mini 3 pro WITH extended batteries and the Mavic Air 2s - they BOTH will need to be registered. That's exactly what I said. With the regular mini 3 pro batteries it DOES NOT need to be registered with the FAA, while the Air 2s still does. This can be a plus for many and it means in fall 2023 they won't own an expensive paperweight.

Recreational flying or not doesn't change the registration requirements. Sorry, but, the "real things" you think matter more don't negate FAA regulations. I would rather avoid a hefty fine from the FAA or my drone being confiscated, but you can do what you want.

no one has been fined or had their drone confiscated over the things you are talking about in this thread. why not let people buy and enjoy their drone today rather than keep talking about future faa drone regulations that are "not a thing" today? trying to scare people to make them believe their purchase today will be grounded next year and become an expensive paperweight is so unnecessary and counterproductive to the thread. i follow all the faa laws today, not the ones proposed for some time in the future. i am in the vast majority as i suspect more than 90% of the recreational drone flyers are breaking the rules.

A lot of people are comparing the Air 2/Air 2S to the mini 3 pro and trying to make an educated buying decision. Remote ID will probably not even be a concern on most drones manufactured in the last three years, but not having to worry about it at all can be an advantage.

when you address the non-flying public and you inform the potential consumer that there is an upcoming government law that will render their 2022 $1,000 purchase into an "expensive paperweight" in about a year then that's a scare tactic.

there's already a mistaken belief in america that the sub 250 drone does not have to be registered and therefore is exempt from most all drone laws (which is why you see so many people flying whenever and wherever they want) and it doesn't help to claim the sub 250 is safe from future "hefty fines" and "confiscation" that are imminent if you buy the non-mini drone. we don't know that; it's a false narrative.
