Gen4 is here. Gen3 are going to be discounted moving forward. Kits are great (and, typically the better deal), but sometimes you have batteries and just need a replacement tool.

I haven't seen this posted yet and thought it looked attractive for a stand-alone item.

Standard hack option. Get the gen3 driver for $67.10.

The CP3.0 (high output) battery is the free item and comes to $61.90 in case you were looking for one of those rather than the tool.

Other tools are also available, such as the fuel hammer drill for ~$99, but I thought this was pretty decent for a spare driver.

Just what the world needs, Milwaukee Gen4. LOL.

These power tool companies, especially Dewalt and Milwaukee, are out of control with the number of different lines, models, generations, etc. that they are trying to push at consumers.

Sorry, I digress, back to the deal...
It's almost worse than cell phone companies😑

Uh oh.. end of the Home Depot Hack?
Edit: Looks like you can ship to two different Home Depot stores in one order. Pickup the driver at your store, ship the battery to another store and let them cancel when you don't pick it up?

Odd, I just checked again and it still shows as available. I wonder if these deals are starting to become regional (I'm in Nashville). I saw the "deal has sold out" very quickly on the impact/hammer/drill bit @ $199 set yesterday (but I think many others did too).

*Upon your edit: Yep, you've got it now...thanks for taking the extra step vs most on these threads who just rant :-)

For others....

If this is your first time looking at hacks again, I'll be gentle.

For all those who read this....it's "hack 2.0" time.

Correct, you can no longer choose ship to home + pick up at store. But you have several options to still return part of this type of "Free Tool with Purchase" order. You can change the "pickup store" for every piece of the order and call them to cancel or not pick it up. Alternatively, just ship the entire thing to home and then go return a portion.

I don't understand your argument.
What is your alternative?
I definitely do not want them to do like they've done with corded tools and ceased all innovations for the last 20 years.

One way to find out is to go to home depot.com and search "Milwaukee xxxx"....scroll through the list and see if your item of interest comes with a free tool.

I just noticed the driver and the hammer drill...but I am sure there are more...or likely to be additional tools in the future as the Gen4s roll out.

Agreed, with most brands, but I mean Milwaukee has kept the same M18 batterys compatible for like 15 years, sure they've come out with m12 and mx, but those are completely different form factors or use cases.
Even when they come out with new battery technology, it is still the same platform and can still be used on those first tools.
As far as tool generations...are they supposed to just never innovate or improve products? Sure phone models every year are dumb, but these tools it's usually 4-5 years between generations, doubt theres many using a first gen smartphone.

Haha - kinda true. Though, to be fair, I think Gen3 has been around for 4 years. Cell phones are like 6 months these day.

Also, I'm fine with upgrades so long as there is actually a useful modification/improvement. When they start offering a "new" product with a slightly different font + 5% extra hand grip material and rebrand as Gen5 though...............laugh out loudlaugh out loud

Agreed. If anyone didn't catch it, I was just being sarcastic and joking. I welcome the competition between all the manufacturers of tools, I just hope the batteries stay compatible

Watch out, I did two of these "hacks" earlier this year and on the second one they wouldn't let me do the return. Told me I had to call "the retail equation" - long story short I finally got it returned after 3 visits, definitely not worth the hassle. I have not returned much to home depot, maybe 3 things in the past year despite buying thousands.
