i prefer the Switchbot Plug Minis which can regularly be found for $3/plug and run Tasmota excellently for easy power monitoring without relying on a third party cloud for software updates.
Follow the prompts on your Echo device or use Alexa in the Amazon app to checkout.

That's what I'm thinking too, because I followed the instructions but the checkout still shows $22.99
that too with energy monitoring
You do need to set them up initially on your wifi with the Kasa app, after that it's easy to control them in Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, or Alexa.
One thing I did with one regular plug using SmartThings is I have it set up with a lamp in our living room by our front door. I did a routine that if the front door is opened between sunset and sunrise, the smart plug will turn on the lamp for 10 minutes, then turn it off.
Energy plugs I'm using on our dehumidifier, as well as the heated cat pads (in the winter) in the cat beds.
I've been using these Kasa TP-Link smart plugs for about 4 years (including 'refurbished' ones), never had a problem with them. I have about ten of these, son has about four of them at his house.
