Nice price... This R635 Series is actually a 2020 model. It has a native 120Hz panel, and supports eARC, VRR, ALLM. However, for those interested, it does not support 4K@120Hz.

I need native 120 as I'm not trying to replace TVs like shoes. This is disappointing, but the model looks great.

In this context, I was leaning towards U8G. However, had it been x90J instead of x85j, I would have immediately pivoted.

TCL vs Sony vs Hisense.
I was waiting for Hisense U8G and held myself off for every other deal until 3 AM last night. Exactly at 3 AM, the Hisense deal appeared and I purchased. It's a no-brainer. U8G is far superior to both you mentioned.

TCL vs Sony vs Hisense.
The Sony lacks local dimming and is not nearly as bright as the other two for HDR.

The Hisense has higher HDR brightness than the TCL but it's your call whether that's worth an extra $100. I trust TCL more for quality control but either are good choices

I'm a neophyte. What is the benefit of having native 120? Is it mainly for gamers? I'm pretty much just watch tv guy only.
