Wish they had similar discount on 512GB one. 256GB is way too small.

If you add it to your cart, it takes an additional $89 off.

Also longer return period and better warranty, especially with their Visa card but requires membership.

I feel like I should give a word of warning for anyone intending to use a M1 Mac as a HTPC/music streamer. There is a critical flaw in all the M1 Macs with regard to their audio output. The internal DAC is limited to 48/24, meaning if you want true lossless audio (typically 96/24 or 192/24), the M1 Mac CANNOT output this directly. 96/24 and 192/24 are typically found in higher end lossless audio, Blu Ray audio, etc. Normally, the inability to output at 96 or 192 would not be an issue, as you would typically bypass the internal DAC and send the data to your audio processor or receiver to do all the processing. However, Mac crippled the HDMI output, so that it cannot pass through audio at 96/24 or 192/24. The only way to bypass the internal DAC is via USB, and most receivers do not have a USB connection for this purpose.

This is a known issue in audio circles. After extensive research, I've found only one person who claims to have found a work around through HDMI, but I was not able to replicate it.

M1 is pretty good for a streaming machine for OBS, solid 4k/60 or 1080/60

Is this issue still present in M2 chips? Anyone know?

I think this is dead. Still showing as $659 in cart. Costco also went back up to $669.
