I tried this monitor with a 14 inch Macbook pro m1 (with thunderbolt cable) and had no issues, I got the full 144Hz with no flickering, the usb passthrough and audio worked perfectly (the integrated DAC on this monitor isn't great though, I wouldn't recommend using it's audio output for music. The speakers on the other hand are some of the best I've heard on a monitor), scaling wise I didn't pay attention, I could send you pictures if you are really interested with this monitor (I would need to borrow my brother's mbp and he doesn't like that).

This is a real good monitor from what I know. I'm using an older version the LG 38UC99 i believe but have been thinking of upgrading to this one

I was going to buy this monitor until I read about the screen flickering issues with the apple M1 chips

https://forums.macrumors.com/thre...g.2325279/

It doesn't sound like this monitor's resolution scales very well with an M1, either.

I was surprised to find this was an office monitor not a gaming monitor. For some reason all of these ultra wide monitors seem to have very poor contrast ratio. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the IPS technology or the extended width or the curve or just coincidence.

I think this monitor is best of both worlds office and gaming. It even edged out the new 40" ultra wide LG has unless you are a content creator then the 40" would be richer.

The M1 issues with the monitor have workarounds I believe and it's been report to Apple as well.

This is cheapest I've seen it ever

38WN95C-W vs. 38WN85C-W

It is interesting that LG has put the 95C on sale on their website as well ($1250) with original MSRP of $1600 but LG nor Amazon has put the LG 38WP85C-W on sale MSRP $1299--$1299 on LG's site and $1250 on Amazon.

-both are the same size & have same resolutions (33840 x 1600) & other similarities
-the 95C has a 144Hz Refresh Rate, 1ms Response Time, Thunderbolt 3
-the 85C has 60Hz Refresh Rate, 5ms Response Time, USB C

-not sure if the 95C was not selling vs the 85C or other models
-other issues??

Yeah you should get qd oled AW monitor if you're going to be spending that much for a monitor.

144Hz refresh rate should be enough for gaming if I'm not trying to be the best competitive gamer out there right? lol I'm looking to replace my now 7 years old Dell U3415W that has a great KVM feature that allows me to WFH and game.

Great monitor, I have this - purchased for $1,500 last year. Gets really bright, but not enough to sear my eyes in HDR.

However, FYI it doesn't do G-Sync/Freesync via Thunderbolt, only Displayport.

Agreed. Speakers are great, but DAC is crap. I have external speakers connected to it via the 3.5mm port, and it's severely underpowered.

I use this monitor with my M1 Pro MBP 14 for the last couple months, I haven't had any issues with screen flickering myself

Trying to decide between this and the LG 40WP95C-W for mixed use. Not really concerned about the price tag, but just focused on which one would best integrate with the new M1 Max MBP. Anyone have experience with one or both?

Go to rtings and check the reviews on each, you can even do a side by side compare which is a real good feature they have. In fact they have a paragraph comparing both when you do the compare

I'd go for this bc of the high refresh rate, even without gaming you can still play high fps videos and see the difference. It's already a huge ultra wide, going 40inches would be negligible but with 144hz there's some actual difference with the visual output of the display
