FYI for anyone who has a current wells fargo credit card - for most of their older cards you can do a product change over to this card instead. I just did this so I can move away from my old 1% cash back card to upgrade to this. You don't get the sign up bonus but all of your credit limit, age of account and all transfers over with it.

Here's my plan. My local utilities allow extra payment. 500 to electricity, 500 to water, 500 to etc and set up the CC to pay monthly to finish before APR is up and free 300 dollars

in fact i've got medical bills anyway

is this one of the best points per $ redemption cards from Wells in the market? I see one cannot maximize it beyond the 1/$1 like how chase lets you maximize if redeemed via their portal for 25% extra?

I've been using this card for years and have always gotten 2%. Do you carry a balance or something? It's set up so that you earn 1% when you make a purchase and the other 1% when you make a payment.
Did you actually try to make a redemption? You aren't explaining something I don't know. Yes I know it's one percent when you purchase and another when you pay. And yes, I do pay my card off every month. Again, try to replicate my example. Go and make some purchase, let's say $100. Now you it off all you want. Then after you get the extra 1%. Now redeem the 2% but make another purchase. You will notice that the about earned for your new purchase is reduced by the amount of redemption, making it a sub 2% card. At least it was when I found this card useless for that reason and stopped using it.

There is a doctor of credit thread FOR THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE. I really do wish people actually do their homework before accusing others of not knowing what they're doing.

Hey buddy, I stated facts from my experience and never accused you of not knowing what they're doing. I asked legitimate questions on how you're using your card because I've always gotten full value. Yes, I do make redemptions. I generate over 80K TYPs every month and have always gotten full value on my redemptions. The article you linked is for people who take the cash back as statement credit. I have never taken my cash back as statement credit and always choose to have it deposited into my CitiGold checking instead. It's simple math. A statement credit is not a payment, so yes, you're not getting the full 1%. That's common sense. Its like returning something and getting credit back to your card and then complaining that you didn't earn any points, but tell me you don't understand points and MS without telling me you don't understand points and MS.

So help me out here, what IS your point. I replied to a person who clearly ISN'T doing points and MS, so I didn't reply as if he did. So he asked for a 2% card and you reply with MS? Again, why ISN'T a statement credit consider "payment." Every other real 2% card DOESN'T reduce the earn rate by the amount of redemption, even if we ignore the time value of money associated with the one pay period delay. You're basically arguing a technicality that it isn't a payment without acknowledging that this isn't a 2% card, ergo, I'm right. Thanks for playing.

P.S. You MS Citi TY points? Wow.

Everything sounds great until the you don't get the bonus part. It makes sense to transfer if that's your primary and spend a lot. 30k points is pretty good.

Seems like a replacement for the Propel? Just as a Visa instead of an Amex is the only difference Im seeing

There are some travel protections you get with Propel that you do not get here. I'm keeping my propell because I go on about 100 K a year of travel so it's the easiest 3000 I've ever made in my life because I don't actually do anything except pay my bill my travel agent zaps me for everything directly.

You have two premium cards the platinum AMEX and the venture x. In your case I don't see a reason to get this
