FYI for anyone who has a current wells fargo credit card - for most of their older cards you can do a product change over to this card instead. I just did this so I can move away from my old 1% cash back card to upgrade to this. You don't get the sign up bonus but all of your credit limit, age of account and all transfers over with it.

Here's my plan. My local utilities allow extra payment. 500 to electricity, 500 to water, 500 to etc and set up the CC to pay monthly to finish before APR is up and free 300 dollars
in fact i've got medical bills anyway

Question for Credit card churners: I assume citi double cash is te only straight up 2% card on everything with no annoying quarter/categories?[/quote]
Besides Citi Doube Cash, WF also has a straight 2% cash back called "Active Cash Back".
Hi. I've never had a card before. Do you need a bank account with them? Can you cancel after your rewards, how hard is it? How do you use points?
You don't need a checking/saving account with a bank to open their credit card. You can cancel after receiving the reward but it's not a recommended practice since old credit card can give you credit history. On top of that, it adds up to your available credit and reduces your credit usage (percentage wise)
There are many ways to use points. One of the easiest way is just redeem them for statement credit, which will apply toward your statement.
Since you're new to the credit cards game, I'd recommend doing some research first to pick whatever cards work best for you.
You can pay your water bill with credit card? I've never heard of that. Also, if your water bill is $500 monthly then something is wrong. Mine is like $200 Quartey.
I think you need to work on your reading comprehension before getting snarky with people...
1. I've lived in various cities across the US and I have always been able to pay my utilities with a credit card.
2. The OP was saying that you could pre-pay if your utilities allow it. Essentially, you could pay $500 ahead of time, even if your bill was only $40. Then you have a $460 credit on your utilities that you can slowly chip away at.
Got mine, super awesome, 11k limit, I already had the propel but this is basically the visa version of it plus cell phone category, sometimes some places won't take my amex propel so this will be a perfect backup

I got mine like within a week
Using points is really only good for statement credit as nothing else has a discount for using points.
