I used to own one of these. It looks great on the counter, but otherwise a pain in the ass. Top on the water container isn't hinged, then there's another loose lid over where the grounds are, then the attachment of the lid to carafe sucks too. Otherwise built well, but don't expect any better coffee than a mr.coffee or black & decker.

I'm wondering if you had a defective unit, as the Moccamaster is SCAA certified and highly regarded by q-graders. It's one of maybe 5 or 10 automatic drip coffee brewers that receive the SCAA cert last time I researched this stuff. Food for thought.

I just got one of these from Amazon during their Prime days (could chose between 10 or more colors) and am on the fence if I'll keep it or not. Previously owned a SCAA certified Bonavita and the thing died on me in less than 2 years. Now run a $60 Cuisinart from Costco and really can't tell the difference between the Bonavita and the Cuisinart, so not sure if the Tecnivorm will be any better. Wondering how much the great coffee this makes is due to the placebo effect - I paid over $200 for this and it must make great coffee. Freshly roasted/ground and quality beans makes more of a difference IMHO.

This is what I do.
Why would you buy a $300 coffee make and then use beans you ground 10 hours earlier?
