Need your guys help and opinion, is this good for streaming?

I was thinking of upgrading the ram and seeing if I could add a 1050 ti or something to this for encoding and streaming with a capture card. Is that feasible with this machine, given the upgrades that I will add with ram and GPU?
That is a BIG NO! This is a tiny pc with 65 watt laptop power supply! No 1050 ti! Smilie
What is streaming mean to you? This celeron has no problems streaming stuff, like netflix, amazon prime videos, youtube 1080p60 videos without studder for me. This celeron does have INTEL 600 graphics built in, which works to watch basic stuff. Acer has 2 more expensive refurbs (the i3-10th gen 199 dolars and the i5-11thgen 299 dollars) you might want to get instead if you want to get graphics cards because 300 watt power supply (low profile cards only).

Others can comment, but anybody that puts a 1050TI into this Celerson is playing with FIRE! Smilie

Anyone have issues with the audio not outputting through the HDMI? I have a monitor with speakers connected via HDMI and the video works fine. The monitor speakers confirmed working with other PCs. I've updated all the drivers and windows, but still the computer doesn't sense any speakers. Any ideas?

I am making assumption you are on windows 11, since you ddn't state OS.
Basically, look at sound settings, there are a lot, or click on the speaker ICON on bottom right, and open it up, and it also opens other OPTIONS. My HDMI is main sound, but I use bluetooth speakers as option too, and you can switch between speakers, explore that speaker ICON, and look at all the options. I could be you have setting that if speakers are plugged in, it turns off Internal speakers on hdtv. You can also watch youtube videos on getting sound to work in windows 11. I sometimes have 3-4 bluetooth speaker options (depending how LOUD I want to be or soft.) Smilie

i'm running stock windows 10. I already went through sound settings/control panel/speaker icon and there is nothing listed in the audio output options. I have a red dot next to the speaker icon on bottom right of desktop. I tested bluetooth speakers and those worked and showed up alone in output options. I popped in a GT710 from my other PC and it appeared and outputted sound as well, but for some reason the onboard HDMI doesn't display and output audio.

interesting.
So you got bluetooth speakers working.
You got GT710 sound working.
Unplug the external speakers from back of hdtv. Does it get sound through your hdmi speakers?
Are there settings on your hdtv itself about sound, mine has lots of options too. Sounds like you are good at trouble-shooting. If you remove any sound outputs from back of your hdtv, and still no sound from hdtv internal speakers? Maybe restart pc, and turn on and off your hdtv. Or try different hdmi port. I'm just trouble-shooting things I would do.

p.s. Maybe remove gt-710 card and see if you get sound back on hdmi. I have gt-710 cards too, but they are in my hp 8300 elite PC's. I would be too scared to use them in this 88 celeron PC (because of stress it puts on components in this tiny PC. Also, in testing since it's such a old card, is gaming any better than INTEL 600 graphics, since intel has much newer tech level. It is good you are experimenting with that. ( got off the subject of speaker issue, sorry).

The monitor only has one HDMI output and has inbuilt speakers which has worked with other HDMI devices like my other PC, laptop, and consoles. I don't have anything else plugged into the monitor besides the Acer. I've confirmed the monitor settings and have restarted the Acer and monitor to no avail. Does yours output HDMI audio from stock settings?

... I have 2 of these celeron 88's. And I do have one hooked up to 40 inch 4k hdtv and that works for me , no problems.
I just turned on my other celeron 88 and it's attached to 24 inch hp monitor, and the sound comes from the speakers on my monitor, and sounds good.
BUT none of my 88's have a graphic card in them. I'm not sure where the conflict comes from , get pc back to stock and remove 710 and remove any external sound outputs from monitor. If you can sound back on monitor , then the problem is some conflict with gt-710 or the external sound device.

Yeah, looks like I will reset it back to stock just to be sure. Thanks.

Also, my hp 24 inch monitor itself has tons of sound options, so I would check there too.

p.s. ... other option is plug your celeron 88 into another hdtv or monitor and see if you get sound and if you do, then check monitor settings. You are on the right track, you are trouble-shooting like a pro. Applause

I think the most powerful half height GPU is GT1030...
I could be wrong if someone can locate another low profile GPU available in the market.
someone mentioned 3050TI that it doesn't work for me

gee, bad advice! Smilie
I'm not saying that the gt1030 would not work (short term) , but over time, it would put too much stress on conponents.

Here is the specs for the GeForce GT 1030!
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/gefo...fications/
notice how it states that 20-30 watts power
BUT it also says, Minimum Recommended System Power 300 Watts
...
this is why I recommend the 2 other ACERS because they do have 300 watt power supply!

Why take a chance on blowing resistors/capasitors/power supply, etc. Not worth it in my opinion. Now if this device had 225 power supply ... then provided that pc generally has low powered chip, and not water cooler (Smilie) , etc ... it probably would be ok (maybe).

But 65 watt laptop power supply. I'm shaking my head from left to right. Smilie

There is no good or bad...as long as the PC to do whatever you expect to do on your own fun.
Actually, I have bunch of GPU cards around, I use the 88 PC to drive my external 4x GPU for mining with external 1000w PSU

It runs on dual channel mode when the matching dual channel RAM installed , see the screen capture.
Also the wireless chip Network Card: Atheros/Qualcomm QCA9377 is a very capable Wi-Fi/BT combo chipset
Thank you. HWinfo program shows my ram as running in dual channel. I was able to overclock the GT730 by 350Mhz on both the memory and the gpu core (I had to give it an additional 150mv), which has really stabilized Battlefield 1 and made it very playable. Temps top out around 67c. No additional fans in the box as of now. It rarely dips below 20fps now and I would say the average is in the high 20's or even 30. CS:GO is optimized and looked great even before the overclock. Battlefield 3 was showing FPS numbers mostly in the 50's, I'll have to confirm my settings in that game they may not be at low.

Nonetheless, it looks like this GPU has plenty of untapped power, and the 90w power brick that I am using does not seem to be breaking a sweat.

Absolutely excellent computer all in all. There are still a couple areas of untapped power that I haven't tried out yet.. One is getting the GPU to run 4 lanes via the replacement of other devices, and second is trying out my 32GB G Skill RAM kit in this box (higher clock spd as well).

Attached is my Unigine Heaven benchmark at the highest overclock I could achieve, then I dialed it back a pinch for long term stability ;-)

The recommendations are generalized.. It is NOT taking into account that your PC runs 6w at idle. The general recommendation is completely foreign to this machine because of how little power it takes (it is a complete and total outlier from the industry in general). Gauging the power needed for this system can be easily done. You measure the system under load, add 30W (in the case of the 1030), and if you are under 65W, then you're ok. In my case I am using the 90W because I have it on hand, it is identical voltage to the unit sold for this sytem (when upgraded by acer).

The general recommendations are for the highest powered systems these cards will typically encounter. In other words, if they say 300w, it's because they're allocating 30W on top of a 250W minimum required PSU size. And 250w is a fairly standard minimum in the industry. We don't need 250, we need 65 (apparently much less, load reports of 25W seem to be the norm). so add the same 30w figure to that 65W, and you're at 95W.

Can you run a 1030 on this machine? In all likelihood probably yes, HOWEVER, I don't expect the performance to be much higher than my 730 (which runs at pcie 2.0 already). I would highly recommend getting ahold of the 90w power brick that ships with this unit when upgraded by acer (or compatible acer alternative). My POWER brick from my laptop is a LITE-ON 90W 19.7V unit.

And by the way, I decided to try the included 65W PSU, and it booted fine. Now that's not to say I'm going to jump into 3d mode with my overclocks on with this power brick, but the system will boot with the 65 W unit and a GT 730 (28W TDP?)... Honestly, it can probably run 3d mode, but I'm going to measure the wattage on the 90W before I go burning up this power brick Grin
