This is for hard floors only, there's no carpet brush head available for it (the kind that most Dyson vacuums come with). The suction is less than the V8, V10, etc., it's designed to be as light and maneuverable as possible.

No comparison, this is exclusively for hard floors. It's fantastic as a cleaner and duster on hard floors. The brushes roll counter to each other so dust and debris forms hard floor get sucked up with almost perfect suction. This will not clean massively dirty floors but if you use it as maintenance or after a roomba type vacuum, you will have floors that are dusted and there will be nothing left behind on the floors surface. Also worth noting it's $189 at HSN outlets if you have one close to you but that's definitely VERY YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY

I had purchased one of these when they first came out but I returned it due to the lack of getting a small motorized brush which is perfect for my sheets I have a cat and she brings litter into my sheets constantly this is a great one echo maneuver amazingly it is so quick and easy to use much better than the Dyson 10 or the 11 that I had I like it because I do have hard floors and yes you can actually use in area rug it does work, I just purchased again because it's a good deal and now it does have the extra tools which is what I needed better than paying $400 for it

This vacuum is great for light to moderate dirt, food, and dust on hardwood floors (and no pile carpets actually). We have 4 small children and purchased this for daily messes. Works great, gets under furniture and couches, and is light enough to use while carrying a 2 year old in your arms. Is not a replacement for V8 or V10. This vacuum is for a totally different use case. Would recommend

Bought this last year and it is great for our hardwood floor--light and maneuverable. This fits a cleaning niche not filled by our big dog Kirby for carpets and other uses. Good price too!

It does. It's a little awkward to hold straight rather than like a pistol like the other Dyson units. Also, the connector is a skinnier version of the standard Dyson tools from V7 on and nothing is interchangeable. I still like mine a lot.

Great vacuum if you don't have carpet. I tend to use this more then my Dyson v12. Cleans faster being able to maneuver it around easier.
