I wonder what the lowest price for the q990b will be by next year. Not sure whether to get this or wait for a good deal on that.
People got the q950a direct from Samsung about a week ago for $699. Lots of canceled orders due to not having enough stock , but many got them. If that's any indication , then you might get one possibly in a year once the C model soundbars are out. My own order was canceled and I just bought the 990b today to console myself.
Now that it's been confirmed the 9500s rear speakers are compatible, if anyone else thinks they can combine these and get a cheap 930B, the answer is no.
I looked up the manual for this soundbar and the table or specs shows that the main bars are not the same. You'd end up with a 9.1.4 system for both, but on the main bar - the power levels for the speakers vary. For example, some of the speakers of the 930B bar are 30W versus 20W for the 800B bar.
CORRECTION: THIS PLUS REARS GET YOU 7.1.4 SURROUND, NOT 9.1.4 LIKE I SUGGESTED ABOVE.

I think I'll hold off.
I did way too much research on this series of soundbars. 930B and 800B share the same frame manual, but the 930B has two extra drivers in the main bar. The 930B main bar + sub is 7.1.2, the 800B main bar + sub is 5.1.2. 930B comes with rear speakers equivalent to 9500s 2.0.2 channels. If I had to guess, they are the same rear speakers they used with the 950T, just pre-paired with the 930B. I think the 990B bar is built totally different. 7.1.2 comes with rears that are 4.0.2.
I bought this q800b deal with AMEX card discount because I specifically can't do rears right now, but maybe I'll add 9500s rears in the future. It would still be cheaper than 930b at current prices. If I could do rears i might look at other bars in the $600 range because not sure I would pay $1000 for a soundbar either.

Is it good? Right the lg Sp9ya is around the same price. What do you think is better between the two?

I have been using the samsung q800b for about a week. I have never listened to the lg sp9ya before. But they seem to be around the same specs, features and quality. I feel like I still have some tinkering to do with the q800b to get the best sound quality. Maybe the lg sp9ya is better on that front. Dialogue is much clearer than my old soundbar which was just a 2.1 soundbar, but bass just doesn't feel like it's any better than my old soundbar.
Between the sp9ya and q800b, I would get whichever's cheaper.

I saw on Rtings they are going to be reviewing all these bars pretty soon. https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/suggestions
