If it makes you feel better, about 20 manufacturers use this same board.

You must know nothing about networking since unmanaged switches have no way to communicate out... so no its impossible for it to pass packets to anywhere outside the network.

For that to be even a close possibility you would need a managed L2/L3 switch.

You need a device that supports 2.5g or 10g and cat 6e Ethernet cables

Has anyone tried to make two separate orders? I am curious if the coupon is limited to one per account, as it only applies once if your cart contains two.

Great deal, great first post. OP repped.

I use these things for audio networks, so SFT ports are a must.

I just placed three separate orders. Coupon was applied each time.

Now I can upgrade all three of my switches. My MoCA devices support 2.5GB. So assuming my wall keystone jacks are capable of handling the speeds (they should, right?), then I should be able to get 2.5GB speeds on my LAN (theoretically), correct? I have a NAS that has 2.5GB ports. I don't currently have lag issues watching a movie from my NAS server, but… if I ever wanted to put large video files and tried editing from my NAS, this is probably where I'd see the biggest improvement, no?

They will probably remove your deal due to the <750 seller rating. I posted a similar deal from the same seller awhile back and got hit by that. That said I've had no issues with the poe version of this switch.

Is this what Tim Tebow does on the side when not playing for the Jaguars. Making network equipment?

Yeah, I think I'll pass on a switch made by "TEROW"...not worth risking my expensive multi-gigabit NICs and client devices over a cheap no-name switch like this.

No built in POE, so your expensive NICs will be fine, lol. Unless you just have bad luck in general and lighting hits the switch and send its down all your cables frying everything.

Approaching two months now on this GiGaPlus switch and it has been rock solid for me. Should be about $60 now with two active discounts.

And to be more clear, it is not guaranteed to work at 2.5G up to 100m on Cat5e, correct? It seems that lower levels of Ethernet cabling, like Cat5e, frequently punches above its weight and can handle speeds above 1G and moderate lengths. I've seen lots of posts that echo yours saying that it will work.

But Cat5e was not originally intended to work at those speeds. "Official" documentation doesn't usually list Cat5e for speeds above 1G. Whether or not it works can depend of factors like the quality of the cable, interference along the run (like going over AC power lines), and even the quality of your termination.

So for anyone curious if your existing cabling will support higher speeds, be optimistic, but test it out before investing too much. If you are buying new cables, pick something higher than Cat5e. Troubleshooting issues related to inadequate cabling can be a huge pain.
