The Sony A80J is excellent overall. It's fantastic for watching movies in dark rooms because it has a near-infinite contrast ratio that produces deep blacks, and there's no blooming around bright objects. HDR content looks amazing because of its deep blacks, and it displays a wide color gamut, but its HDR brightness is just okay. It's also excellent for watching sports due to its near-instantaneous response time, and it's fantastic for gaming as it has HDMI 2.1 inputs. It's impressive to use as a PC monitor, but you risk damaging the screen with burn-in after exposure to static elements.

PROS
  • Near-infinite contrast ratio.
  • Image stays accurate at wide viewing angles.
  • Near-instantaneous response time for smooth motion.
CONS
  • OLEDs are prone to permanent burn-in.
  • Doesn't get bright enough to fight intense glare.

It seems like Best Buy is keeping the a80j at retail price despite intermittent sales on other sites... Really would like to get my hands on a good open box deal with their warranty

It's big enough for me in my bedroom. It's replacing my Samsung 64" F8500 plasma that just died. 😞 Already have a 75" Sony in my den. Got the Prime deal on Prime day plus another $200 off by getting the Prime Visa cc.

Samsung 64" plasma is great! Have the same one! What happened to it?

If I got the C1 at $1299, is this worth $100+tax and the hassle of returning the C1 to BB?

No power at all. Might be power supply or y board. I have the back panel off and in the process of trying to troubleshoot but need more research to pin point the problem.
I agree, it is a fantastic tv and I love the picture quality, even for 1080p, but it's also a room heater in my bedroom 😓

My Samsung Plasma had the same problem. Seems like a common issue with them. It is the main board eeprom that fails. If you are good at soldering you can fix it for $10 otherwise go on eBay & get it done for $50. Don't throw away such a fantastic tv

I have a 4K OLED & don't see much of difference between the old 1080P Plasma & the 4K.
