However, I am inclined to think that ClearMe is another unnecessary gimmick.
9/11 was a terrible event. Regretfully, it got commercialized: artificial and long lines for people in regular lines (thanks, TSA!!) and no lines for ClearMe. ??? Somehow, ClearMe members are viewed as safer passengers because of scrutiny, etc OR because each pays $119 per year?
I just started my membership one week ago, so I'm still in the trial and can cancel & reactivate. Would prefer not to if I can just apply it
So far was able to swap my membership price down to $109 via: http://my.clearme.com/mileageplus
CLEAR is additional step to TSAPre where you use your biometrics to prove your identity and if you also have TSAPre, you get in the front of that line once validated by CLEAR kiosk. It will also offer health pass (vaccine info) for events stadiums etc in future.
Think of TSAPre as domestic product expediting your entry into the airport (CLEAR provides additional speed to the process) and GLOBAL ENTRY as international product expediting your exit out of the airport. Hope this helps.

In addition I had to call Clear support several times to get my voucher, even several weeks after completing in-person enrollment at the airport, because my voucher apparently slipped through the cracks.

Be aware: during the pandemic I let my Clear membership expire as I was unable to fly. About nine months into it AmEx sent out an offer that basically gave you a free Clear membership (reimbursed the entire cost of $179 for me and my spouse). I immediately signed up for that deal.
CLEAR, in their infinite wisdom, decided to count my $179 fee as a renewal, and instead of giving me a 12-month membership from the time of the renewal date they back dated the payment to the previous expiration date and only gave me THREE MONTHS of renewal. Seriously - despite not setting foot in an airport for nine months they still charged me for that time! I got to use it exactly one time before it expired again and I have refused to renew since.
I wrote several emails to their customer service to detail the transaction and complain and they ignored every single one of them. Robo-responses saying my case was being looked into and nothing came of it.
I fly approximately 30-40x a year for work - as far as I am concerned this company is dead to me.
