I'm surprised just dance has managed to stay relevant, but once kinect and dance central were discontinued, there was no competition among dancing games. Only reason I keep my kinect 360 slim is because the fitness and dance games despite being released 10 plus years ago.

You get one month or so full, then many of the songs stop working unless you pay the monthly subscription

The base game itself includes a handful of songs [wikipedia.org]that you won't ever have to pay a subscription to play. And then you get a 30-day trial of the sub, which, honestly, I think it's worth it. The playlist that gets unlocked from the sub is HUGE and adds a lot more variety to the game. It's $25 for a year sub, which is less than $3/month. They also 1-month ($4) and 3-month ($10) options for flexibility.

Yes this is basically a subscription. I wouldn't even call this a game as the songs are limited. Unless u do subscription this "game" is. Ripoff. But that's due to the complicated music industry and rights of artist so it's more like a lease on music than ownership.

Or maybe corporate greed I don't really know I just know the game plain sucks unless u subscribe.

It's important to note that it's not just that the majority of content is behind that subscription paywall, but that the game actively advertises for you to sign up, way more than other games with DLC/subscriptions. So the game becomes irritating to play if you haven't shelled out for it.

Game arrived and my daughter and I are both really loving it. The 30-day trial of the unlimited song library is a nice bonus. We'll likely subscribe until we get tired of the game.

Honestly I don't trust Ubisoft and haven't bought a single thing from them in years. I wouldn't put it past them to be the one pushing for subscriptions themself

Almost sold the XB1S until I realized I can still use the Kinect on it for these games. the kids love it.

Good deal. The game is definitely more worth it with the subscription. Yes, it is an extra expense but if you consider the licensing fees they have to pay in order to use the songs (especially those by the most popular artists) then the cost doesn't seem so bad.
