Dang, might have to check some of my nearby Costcos for the 55" at that price. I originally thought about waiting for the C2 to go on sale before wanting to upgrade my current 55" TV but I might bite now if I can find this price.

If you are waiting for this to drop below 1k you'll be waiting a long time. Even if it goes on clearance you'll have to be super lucky to grab one of the few they have in stock. My Costco has a display model that's been sitting for over a month and price has been dropping weekly. It's currently at $1150 and still no takers.

I'm a recent purchaser of an A80J and can confirm oled is worth the hype. No backlit tv is going to be able to compare. If you're willing to spend the money, nothing can compare currently to the oled experience but you should be aware of the drawbacks. Brightness is definitely an issue and having it in a well lit room will cause reflections and viewing issues. Oled can still be used and appreciated in well lit conditions but a dark room is where the picture will really shine.

I'm not a video/screen maven. But — and maybe I should be embarrassed to share this — after 13 years with my Panasonic (50" 720) plasmas, I just discovered the "picture" settings!!! It was at "standard" — probably default — and then I set things to be close to the "vivid" setting. Made a huge difference; it feels like a new tv. Brightness, which I didn't think of much before, is now amazing, as is contrast. I may be kidding myself in thinking now that I can hold off on getting an OLED. It's gotta be like going from SD to HD, you didn't know the difference until you had it.
