The tread was designed because the owner couldn't take his multi-tool into Disney world. Try taking your wave on a plane. I take my tread on a plane all the time.

I own one, I bought two more. I use the one I have as my watch band. The most useful tool I own.

I used mine to tighten a rattling tray on a train not too long ago, which saved me a lot of annoyance. I SIM swap a lot for travel so the SIM tool alone is sweet. I use the package cutter and bottle opener parts the most often tho, it works reasonably well. Not a replacement for a real leatherman but I've taken it into all sorts of secure places with no issue. Definitely not for everyone tho.

Is this legal in California?
Yes, provided that you move the 3mm hex bit at least 2 links away from the #0 phillips bit, and modify the clasps so that it requires a tool to open.

The hex and Allen key bits are what makes this a good actually usable tool for me, adjusted a few things that I normally would have gone "I'll get around to it when I go to my tool box / find that wrench" so it's saved time and effort. I have a $20 Ali version and it feels super solid, but the bits have started to warp already which is annoying. Not sure if the official one is made of stronger stuff because it looks identical

And when was the last time you used it for anything substantial? Novelty is fun, but hardly practical. Nothing wrong with wanting a *toy* LMAO

Would be incredibly alarmed if my local courthouse didn't at least question it Roll Eyes (Sarcastic).
No questions for me, the I even asked the guard if I should take it off to be put through the x-ray, he said no, then the did a wand pass. These things are about as dangerous as a heavy watch, so no need to be concerned.

Other than a conversation point, how does this extend beyond a novelty for anything practical?

I got one on the last sale just so I wouldn't feel naked in secure areas where I couldn't carry my Leatherman Surge. I finally got to use it a few weeks back when I was called in for jury duty! I walked through security without an issue while wearing it, so it was worth it to me.
You seriously felt the need to have a small toolset with you during jury duty? What were you planning on fixing? The broken judicial system?

🤠 I wish I could fix it with a leatherman!
Many times you don't know what you will need it for, but it gives me peace of mind to be as prepared as possible for emergencies. No uses this time around though, my whole group was dismissed after 2 hours without even being assigned a courtroom. They paid me $15 for my jury service, so it was all worthwhile...🙄

If this will fix the judicial system, I'll buy every one they can make.

For years wanted this, matches my Oakley Time Machine. Now it's so cheap and now I am always wearing a Fenix.

But I am always fixing things and at times will pick up a multitool near me rather than go out to the garage to get the right tool. So this would be used. Still on the fence...
