PSA: If you have BBQGuys reward points, do not use it with the coupon code at the same time. Discounted total showed during my checkout process, but discounts disappeared when I submitted the order. Called customer service and was told that we can't use rewards and coupons together (even though their system let me). But it may also depend on who you speak to, another support person manually refunded me the coupon + points amount.

Man, I wish the II was on sale at this price this past black friday. I ended up with a Jr and a Classic I due to the sales, but would've definitely paid the difference for a II.

I sure am tempted. The Jr does most of the work for me but sometimes gets difficult for bigger meals… but a no brainer if you regularly cook for more than 2 people.

$300-$400 difference for the gasket upgrade? I'll pass. Maybe $100.

I recently picked up the Big Joe I. It's a shoulder workout every time I grill. Although it's currently sitting in its original cart and I find that to be too tall compared to my height. I think once I have my outdoor kitchen built and the kamado sitting a little lower, the leverages when opening the grill will be much easier.

That's interesting. I have a Big Joe 1 and I never considered it "a shoulder workout," but I certainly noticed the weight after trying an air hinge on their upgraded models.

All in all, I'll ride the BJ1 until the wheels fall off

Really wish the Big Joe would go on sale. Much easier to set up a searing area and another for indirect heat. The regular KJ is a bit too small for this setup. Also much easier to smoke a full packer brisket in the Big Joe.

Not sure if gasket and vent are an upgrade. The air lift hinge, yes.

If you use it with appropriate care, it'll be the balls that'll fall off first 😂
