AquaWater09901 have you confirmed that this works to get you to 28MPH? Also recognize you have the Big Swell I believe. Have been trying this on the Big Sur, as others have said, perhaps with other models as well they haven't been able to change it.

Perhaps you even have a different LCD Display? I can see on the back of mine it says it is Model AK47.

I have tried searching for hacks on Model AK47 but haven't come up with anything, but see this is in fact the display as quantities can be bought from Alibaba etc, showing this display.

I did notice I can get to some type of undocumented menu on mine with PO levels and settings by holding down the up and down at the same time while the display is on.

Edit:

Ah, I figured out how to remove the limit!!

These PO settings look to be standard.
So get to the PO settings by holding the Up/Down at the same time after the LCD is on.
Click on the power button to go through the PO's.
PO8 is the limit! This is in kmh, this was set to 32, bump this up with the up arrow to 41. That is the max I could change it to. This works out to 25.5 mph.
After this change I can get to 25mph going down a hill.
On a straight road I can cruise at about 22 with full throttle. Pedaling fast like crazy I can get it up 24.

So this is a bit of an increase. Perhaps with a bigger front sprocket I could peddle a bit normally and get to 25.

Perhaps it is a limit of the 350W motor or the battery to get me with throttle to 23 or so, but I don't think the controller itself will let me go above 41kph with motor assist.

Possibly changing wheel size, PO6, would allow assist at faster speed?

FYI, I see some people have commented about their having 5 instead of 3 levels. This can be set in the PO5 setting.

Here are the PO settings for an entirely different controller, but they look pretty close from what I see. https://elecbikeparts.com/pages/s...ser-manual

There could be some other cool settings to see what they are and work with them.

for example: P12 PAS Start Strength
0-5, Higher = more assistance
Amount of assistance given when you start pedaling.

I am thinking this must be low. It seems to give very little help right away. Perhaps a safety feature set at factory? But I want help right away!

Or PO9 might affect how quickly it helps?
P09 Throttle Response
0 for instant throttle, 1 for delayed throttle
Sets whether pressing throttle and motor beginning to spin is instant, or whether there is a delay between the actions.

Edit: P09 was already set at 0 and can't be changed
P12 was set at 3 and can't go higher, but it can go lower.

FYI, read on this site https://power-bicycle.com/ebike-power/ that hub motors are pretty much limited to 25.

"Once the ebike is travelling at 25 MPH, the controller-wheel speed is maxed out. You can't go far over 25 MPH on most hub motors unless the motor & controller pair are designed for higher speeds."

This guy also talks about a smoothing circuit the mfgs implement for greater distance. Something about a loop back wire that can be removed to increase initial assistance but at
a sacrifice in distance.

Is this random china stuff?

Not a lot of reviews. I got a warning going to this site (possibly fraudulent?).

Why don't they sell any ebikes on their non-corporate site?

Is anyone else concerned this is a knockoff? Joyridebikes.com is the original site (since 2001) selling Hurley and joyridebike.com (since 2015) is painted with 'weird' all over it.

Which gen3 bike did you get? I wanted one too, but sold out so end up getting 2 of these for less than cost of 1 gen3. for $400 these bikes are pretty great. I ordered the big sur and teton.
I got the Stride.

Loving it so far, it really flattens the hills around here.

I've ridden just a few hundred miles so far but (knock on wood) it's been flawless. It has enough wattage to get my bug butt up every hill so far.

I don't know if I'd want to go gearless... tempted...

Strongly considering one of these... I prefer the style of the Amped ST but it only has a 20 mile range and I am right at 6 feet, so not sure if it's the right fit. The Big Sur seems like the best value with 30 miles range.
None of these ranges are even remotely accurate. They seem to be a bit over 2x the real value. Their 'large' battery, the one they claim 20mph at 40 miles range is a 10AH 36v battery driving a 350 watt motor. If you were pedaling pretty well, hard enough to overcome the push from the motor (almost IMPOSSIBLE on a single speed bike BTW), you might get about 18 miles out of that pack. I would recon at full throttle / assist you might get around 10-12 miles range for a normal adult rider.

My Teton comes in on Friday and I'll be using it this weekend. I can't wait. I'll post up my thoughts after a weekend of hard riding.

max speed is 20 mph. how are you going to go 28 mph? I got the big sur as well, curious if we can unlock the limit.
Yea someone said you can unlock by holding either down or up for 3 second. Then power or mode for 3 seconds. It's earlier in this post. Let me know what you think when you get !!!!! Mine was 4 bills with tax.

How's the Diablo so far? I can't seem to find anything matching that, have you tried looking for replacement batteries?
I have no previous experience of electric bikes so can't comment much. I received it on Monday so could only drive in neighborhood and it was swift enough. The build quality is good and I haven't yet looked for replacement batteries yet

Do you mind taking a picture of the battery? It does seem nice, but I guess my priority is to make sure I can find a replacement battery before purchasing. The teton seems to use a pretty standard battery I see on other ebikes, but has rim brakes, wouldn't mind spending the extra $200 for disc brakes + aesthetics for the Diablo.

I rode around the Big Sur for 3 miles yesterday. So far it is pretty good. I like the matte green color. It is pretty comfortable to ride, a lot of more comfortable than the Teton. It gets up to 20mph quick with pedal assist, but the throttle is so slow. Seems to be like that for all hurley/avalanche bikes. It took me forever to get the brakes right, and even then the back wheel brakes still seem to be stuck to the rim. I think I received the back wheel bent….
So far it's been pretty fun to ride, Gen 3 might be better but this bike for 4 bills it's worth it.

Thinking about the Teton because the 250w motor on the Amped ST scares me... Teton says 6' max rider, will a 6' person feel like the bike is on the edge of too small or will this be ok?

I don't understand this post. We are talking about the "Big Sur". Why would you pay 4 bills for it when it costs $360 after discount code?

I have the Big Sur. Went 6 miles yesterday pulling grandkid behind in a trailer. It finally went to three bars from four when I got home. We have some pretty decent hills to go up as well. Gave me the impression this will go the full rated 30 miles without the trailer, but I haven't tried the full distance and I guess the gauge could be incorrect.

Not sure if you are much of a bike person or not, I sort of em. It's maybe less likely bent as just put on improperly. You should try just reseating the wheel and tighten it so it rolls between the brakes vs leaning to one side if that's the case. Bike shop can sort you too of course.

Yeah there's some math involved that marketing and an optimistically calibrated battery meter are going to have a hard time overcoming.

https://www.industrialbicycles.co...bike-range

The above would assume that the batteries in the bike were top of the line and able to provide their rated capacity. I don't know that there has even been an example of a bargain e-bike using anything even close to the top of the line cells.

Here's a pretty mileage calculator with lots of variables if you want to try it - https://reallygoodebikes.com/page...calculator
