AquaWater09901 have you confirmed that this works to get you to 28MPH? Also recognize you have the Big Swell I believe. Have been trying this on the Big Sur, as others have said, perhaps with other models as well they haven't been able to change it.

Perhaps you even have a different LCD Display? I can see on the back of mine it says it is Model AK47.

I have tried searching for hacks on Model AK47 but haven't come up with anything, but see this is in fact the display as quantities can be bought from Alibaba etc, showing this display.

I did notice I can get to some type of undocumented menu on mine with PO levels and settings by holding down the up and down at the same time while the display is on.

Edit:

Ah, I figured out how to remove the limit!!

These PO settings look to be standard.
So get to the PO settings by holding the Up/Down at the same time after the LCD is on.
Click on the power button to go through the PO's.
PO8 is the limit! This is in kmh, this was set to 32, bump this up with the up arrow to 41. That is the max I could change it to. This works out to 25.5 mph.
After this change I can get to 25mph going down a hill.
On a straight road I can cruise at about 22 with full throttle. Pedaling fast like crazy I can get it up 24.

So this is a bit of an increase. Perhaps with a bigger front sprocket I could peddle a bit normally and get to 25.

Perhaps it is a limit of the 350W motor or the battery to get me with throttle to 23 or so, but I don't think the controller itself will let me go above 41kph with motor assist.

Possibly changing wheel size, PO6, would allow assist at faster speed?

FYI, I see some people have commented about their having 5 instead of 3 levels. This can be set in the PO5 setting.

Here are the PO settings for an entirely different controller, but they look pretty close from what I see. https://elecbikeparts.com/pages/s...ser-manual

There could be some other cool settings to see what they are and work with them.

for example: P12 PAS Start Strength
0-5, Higher = more assistance
Amount of assistance given when you start pedaling.

I am thinking this must be low. It seems to give very little help right away. Perhaps a safety feature set at factory? But I want help right away!

Or PO9 might affect how quickly it helps?
P09 Throttle Response
0 for instant throttle, 1 for delayed throttle
Sets whether pressing throttle and motor beginning to spin is instant, or whether there is a delay between the actions.

Edit: P09 was already set at 0 and can't be changed
P12 was set at 3 and can't go higher, but it can go lower.

FYI, read on this site https://power-bicycle.com/ebike-power/ that hub motors are pretty much limited to 25.

"Once the ebike is travelling at 25 MPH, the controller-wheel speed is maxed out. You can't go far over 25 MPH on most hub motors unless the motor & controller pair are designed for higher speeds."

This guy also talks about a smoothing circuit the mfgs implement for greater distance. Something about a loop back wire that can be removed to increase initial assistance but at
a sacrifice in distance.

Is this random china stuff?

Not a lot of reviews. I got a warning going to this site (possibly fraudulent?).

Why don't they sell any ebikes on their non-corporate site?

Is anyone else concerned this is a knockoff? Joyridebikes.com is the original site (since 2001) selling Hurley and joyridebike.com (since 2015) is painted with 'weird' all over it.

It's not a deal if it doesnt work. Ebay sellers have better customer service, smart person.
Received 11 bikes so far. All work great. Some took a while to get here. If something doesn't work I am sure you will eventually be taken care of or use your credit card for protection.

Ebay sellers probably don't have the increased volume this deal generated.

At least you should be happy now, the deal is over, so volume is down. So wait a few more weeks, pay 40% more for your bike and get the prompt service you are so keen on.

I scanned and uploaded the instruction manual for the computer on the Big Swell (Digitech BL 181). Am guessing the same codes / info works for the Mini Swell and possibly other Hurley Bikes.

enjoy!

Mine came with that manual as well but I still can't figure out how to reset the Trip. On page 9 of that manual it says it is Resetable but it doesn't say how to...

Picture? Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the throttle?

I ordered a Carve from Joyride about 3 weeks ago. Fedex said it was delivered on Monday "left at garage". Problem is I don't have a garage at my house, and I was working from home but saw no Fedex nor bike. Proof of delivery had no address entered.
Fedex are useless and out me in a death spiral of Twitter support. JoyRide have not acknowledged any of my "contact us" website messages, don't have phone support at all, and Hurley have not replied to my contact either.
Only thing left to do is try and have my credit card company cancel the charge.
Truly disappointing and frustrating experience. Any advice for me or similar experiences?

Very frustrating. I had a similar problem in the past from FedEx for some speakers from B&H.

In my case B&H had me fill out some paperwork for non delivery and they sent me a new set.

This sounds like FedEx fault, but Joyride likely needs to handle the non delivery claim.

If Joyride is not responding then it sounds like a charge back is in order. You have been without the bike for a week, so it is unlikely FedEx is going to find it.

Some others have noted if you do eventually get through to JR, they are helpful and may work with you for a different bike. Though I see the Carve is sold out, but same bike Black Jack is available.

If it were me, at this point I would start a charge back, but still try to contact JoyRide, let them know what you are doing, and see if they can still get something to you.

Finally unpacked and assembled my Big Sur. I am not a bike pro and a few things were different than the manual. However, I don't appear to have any instructions on how to adjust the brakes, and mine definitely seem off. It seems like one pad is constantly rubbing. Not sure what to do.

Does anyone mind providing the default controller settings for Betty/big sur? I was messing with settings and now the speedometer is not reading the speed correctly. I was trying to increase the max speed but didn't realize I was messing some earlier settings

Just search on YT, "how to adjust bike rim brakes," you'll find a helpful tutorial.

Big issue owners of the Big Swell should be aware of: the cable that feeds the hub motor is welded in place and doesn't have a disconnect plug from the controller like most other e-bikes have, including the mini swell which I also bought.

The reason this is become an issue is that my rear brake rotor was bent during transit and I took the bike to a bike shop and they were unable to replace the rear rotor without cutting the cable which would both be a warranty void and also an expensive service given the soldering and other tasks that would need to be done to get it back working.

I am also caught up in joyride's lack of service, other than speaking to someone on the day I received the bike about the bent rotor, I have not got any other responses to my emails.

The bike shop suggested I reject the bike given that it was clearly dropped or damaged during transit as there are other parts of the back of the bike that are bent but the fact remains that if you have a Big Swell, you will ultimately struggle to replace the rear rotor when the time comes.

I'm quite happy with my mini swell but fearing that I'm going to need to do a charge back on the Big Swell given the radio silence on resolving this from the company.
