What gives you that impression?
Speca say 1TB HDD. Best can do is swap for a SATA SSD. It is cheap for a reason. But it might fill someones basic needs.

It doesn't come with an M.2 drive stock but there's a high probability it has the slot. That said, I would probably spend my money elsewhere at this time of the technology cycle.

Anyway here's the original product sheet:

If you look at this video, which I think is this laptop, on the lower right side is a M2 slot; right of the battery.

Looks like a pretty good laptop minus gaming. Which is a shame since it's got a good processor and decent memory. Probably great for older games.

The build quality of the gateway is generally agreed to be so bad it's one if the few devices worse than retail, commodity laptops like this HP model. And though this device has only 90 days of support from HP, that also is going to do well by comparison to the horror stories regarding the Gateway (which functionally has no domestic support).

Good luck!

I saw this on adorama but opted for the same laptop on ebay for $319 because of the longer warranty. The listing on ebay has a 90 day warranty + 2 year warranty from ebay. Not sure if I can drop a link here but its item number is 354151198150
