For those who have a balance of cashback from their Discover card, redeem for Subway or Domino's Pizza options at 20% added value. For example, pay $40 for a $50 card.

These are normally only 10% added value but added value is increased to 20% through 8/31/22 or while supplies last.

Curious to why you think so. They have a good reward system.
Most likely he didn't qualify for the card

Damn when I log into my Discover app I see Dominos gift cards but they are normal price.
Confirmed on several cards, via the app even, $10 card cost $8. I haven't seen where anything like this is "select cards", so keep us posted if you contact Discover and they can tell you why yours is different.

Not in my experience- great customer support (second only to American Express), excellent high interest savings account and their 5 percent Cashback categories are very useful.
I love Discover but I feel like they're simply not that popular for whatever reason. All of my friends/co-workers all use Visa, MC or Amex as their main credit cards and I'm the only one that even has a Discover card. My identify was stolen a few years back and I had to deal with a lot of credit card companies and banks, and Discover was by far the easiest one to work with.

One of the reasons they fell out of favor in recent years was because they dropped all of their purchase benefits (purchase protection, even extended warranty, etc). So a lot of people (myself included) pretty much only use discover for the 5% quarterly bonus and for then redeeming those points for deals like the OP's.
Haven't had to call them in years, but any time I've dealt with their customer service it's been a good experience overall.
