Was going to try a couple until I read about the many dented and burst cans. I don't want to risk having the entire shipment ruined with sauce all over the carton. Shipping in the extreme summer heat will only make it riskier.

If that happened, I'm sure Amazon would refund you. Seems pretty low risk to me.

Why on earth would you buy seasoned diced tomatoes? I feel like these would make it harder to make chili given the extra unknowable variable of how much these are seasoned

The case [amazon.com] (12 cans) of diced tomatoes seasoned with basil, garlic and oregano is priced even less at $11.52. Also offers the 15% discount for first S&S offer. Just in case you need to stock up.

Correct. I just got a bunch of cans from Amazon....cans (plural) broke open...dents like I have never seen (used them as a football I think). The problem? Not the cans, the the people that made them...Its Amazon and zero effort to protect the cans from the shipping process. Much better off at your local grocery store, regardless of how much more they are. I did get all my money back but who wants to bother?

Of course Amazon would do the refund, but it's not worth risking a huge mess for an 87c item that many people say can/does happen. It would be bad enough if only getting the Del Monte, but having a can explode and ruin all of the other items in my monthly shipment, plus the possibility of a leaky carton, well, that doesn't seem like a smart choice to me.
