I'd disagree on numpad. Highly useful for literally any situation you need to input numbers (including making calls).
This laptop is amazing. Outrageously thin and light for how powerful it is.
Has an antiglare screen.
I run autohotkey scripts from half my keyboard. Having the numpad is great because it's technically different than the top row #s. If you use your laptop for productivity or anything that can be scripted, AHK can be invaluable, and better with a num pad.

It will work depending on how demanding the games are on CPU. It might end up CPU bound. It depends on the game how well it will perform. It tends to do well for its weight class, but some offer superior cooling.

IT basically will depend.

Makes sense I will report once I get the laptop and setup egpu

it's a matte finish display.. so shouldn't really be any glare like on glossy displays.
Saw this at my local Costco, the screen is much better than prior years ( 16 2-in-1 was next to it) matte is sooo much nicer in use

Bought this last week and just arrived, so I'll try it out tonight and give my thoughts. I'm still not 100% I'm going to keep it. Will need to call Costco to price adjust because it was literally days later that they dropped the price.

How does that model compare with this one, that is on a close-out price: https://www.costco.com/lg-gram-16...07302.html [costco.com] ? Looks like the deal on this post is better for an inch bigger and a newer processer for the same price?
Not even close. The 12th gen has 30-40% better performance and 20% better battery life. A 12th gen i5 will outperform and last longer than 11th gen i7. Its not even close.

12th gen performance is better (not sure if up to 30-40%), but battery life is about the same or slightly worse. This is just based off of using the last gen gram versus this one.

This model doesn't have the 5W smart amp. The speakers will sound like tin cans. I would skip if audio is even somewhat important.

Additionally, it's 2022 and still no haptic touchpad. It's a shame.

Coming from 2020 MBA and 2021 MBP, those 2 things are huge dealbreakers for me.

I agree. The 11th gen was using a U class CPU. This one is P class. It is faster, but draws more wattage. With the same size battery for both, last year's model will almost certainly have better battery life.

Price is missing from listing.

Anyway 17" and under 3 lbs ! Wow. If this had a Ryzen 6800 with RDNA 2 graphics it would be pretty amazing.

Anyone notice this laptop's fans kick in pretty often even with relatively low activity? I have Chrome open with just a few tabs (Gmail, Yahoo, not YouTube or streaming sites) and the fans kick in pretty often.

Tried both the 16" and 17" at my local store. Both had very warm keyboards running just the store demo software, which didn't have high CPU utilization. Hard pass.

I've had it for about 3-4 days, I'd heard about that but so far mine's barely come on at all. And it's been really hot here! Granted the most intensive stuff I've been doing so far has been to install a bunch of software, but generally speaking mine at least seems to be less fan intensive than my other laptops (excluding my older fanless Asus Zenbook!).

I'll also add that I've mostly been using it actually sitting on my lap, so not the best ventilation, but even still no fan or heating issues for me so far at all...

I picked up a 17" i7-8565U at MC for a few years back. I think MC gets these from Costco & sells them as refurb. Mine had like 3 bought/return tags, so MC had discounted it to $850. It's been an amazon laptop. Favorite all time. Trying to decide on upgrading but it still performs fine. Runs latest Ubuntu well and I RD out for any heavy lifting. But I also have external GPU. Wondering if upgrading to TB-4 would help performance of that. But also,
new battery, newer cpu/gpu & an additional usb-c port. Would i see performance gain? Can't find good spec comp.

I would strongly suggest you experience the keyboard and pay attention to how the trackpad is smack in the center of teh chasis.. with the num keys on right, it makes your right hand always tilted to left to type without smacking the trackpad. I loved how lightweight it was, but could not work...
Just tested this at Costco today. About half my right palm rested on the trackpad. Man what were they thinking? Just terrible ergonomics! Mad
