"Pair is also available, but not as deep of a discount."

Pair is ~90, single is ~50. Doesn't that mean that a pair is $5 cheaper per dumbbell?

I got the pair for $88 and additional $10 off PayPal promo, but that was around a Christmas sale.

So the current single or pair deals are both pretty dang good deals.

More than a few of the reviewers on the site say the plates fall off easily. Have you had the plates fall off while you work out?

I got these for $50 a while back. Used them from 5-25 and never felt like they would be coming off while working out. They do slightly move a tiny bit since they're plates, but again not to the point where I think they'll fall off, but I do make sure that they're locked when changing weights.

I noticed that too. Not a slick deal if it can also come with a hospital bill. 🤕 💸

Weights never fell while I worked out. I know the risk of cheap weights, so I was very careful. If I ever lifted it over my head, I made sure it was rotated in a way that the weights couldn't fall even if the locks failed.

There's a small red tab at the bottom of each side. That tab needs to click into place to make sure it's locked. The handle dial should turn smoothly and not stick.

I had to return my first purchase cuz the red tab didn't lock on one side of one dumbbell. After lifting it off the base, I had to give it a shake, then I'd hear it click and lock in place.

I also ordered a new set cuz the price dropped from $100 to $88. And the second set operated very smoothly. So I knew my first set was a lemon. But again, the first set of weights never fell off because I was careful.

Too much to worry about: red tabs, not overhead, arm/hand position - REALLY?!?

Are you kidding me? Buy once, cry once and get a real name brand like Powerblock. Iron Master, etc

Lift them while wearing steel toe boots. You'll be fine.

I bought a pair of these from Walmart for $80 a piece probably six months ago or so. I never had a problem with them at all, and I did all kinds of exercises with them, skull crushers, overhead press, curls, etc… the plates are somewhat loose I guess, but I really only noticed when I was placing them back to switch the weight amount. They moved a little if I didn't have the angle correct.

The only reason I quit using them is because I got a power cage and some Olympic weights/barbells. For $50 each or $90 a pair these are a steal. If they had 25-50 lb sets for this much of a discount I would buy them in a heartbeat.

Edit: Also, when I used these I treated them as I would normal dumbbells. I didn't baby them or do the workouts slowly to make sure they wouldn't fall on me or whatever. Maybe I got lucky with my pair, but I've never had any issues.

I second this. Got these for 85 ish when they were on sale around Christmas. I also bought powerblocks for 350 ish as I was building a small garage gym at the time. I tend to pick these up (the CAPs) more often when doing anything that requires weights 25 lbs and under. Maybe it's just me but they are quicker to adjust and overall less cumbersome to wield. I use mine without giving it any more caution than any of my other weights. I hate that I favor them over the powerblocks, though, given how much I paid for and wanted to like them.

Fwiw, I saw this deal and bought my son a set to have at his house also since he's starting to get into weight training recently

I personally purchased these around Christmas. Have used them on and off since then. I have only had the plates fall off one time and that was because I didn't ensure it was clicked in before I grabbed the dumbbell. My biggest gripe about these is that the writing wears off very easily. I can no longer see the weight when adjusting and have to guess until I get the right one.

I have the exact same experience actually, I also have the powerlocks ones and prefers the Walmart ones here for under 25 pound weights. They are easier to adjust and feel better. I love them, never had any issue with a weight falling of or even feeling like it might. I am suspecting that the bad reviews were about a first iteration of the design and they now fix it. Just like a previous poster had an issue with his first set. I strongly recommend them.
