Going on two years old processor… Plus quadcore. There has been like 3 upgrades to this processor since then… and Now 12th gen are out and so much better.

Nice screen and okay performance though. You're paying extra for the screen. Should be sub $500 without.
12th gen won't be this price due to higher DDR5 RAM, plus companies are finally getting old shipments of stock. I hope BF treats us all well.

This is a great deal at $600 price. Talking about performance. I don't know what you want from a laptop. If you are a serious user as programming and 3d modeling, a gaming laptop or a desktop would be your only choices. For the most people using office, streaming, web browsing, it's more than enough for at least 5+ years.
Speaking of the price, cpu performance is a part of it. You also need to consider about storage, quality, weight and other features. Only focus on CPU means nothing for user experience.

Hi! Where would you find a machine with similar specs (i.e. 11th gen i7, 1TB sdd and 16GB ram) for sub $500? I'm looking for one, but just about anything with those specs is $900+...?
You won't find one. People who state things like "Should be sub $500 without (OLED display)" based on some one-off deal they got at some point in the past, as though that is the going price for similar specs, are spreading misinformation and doing others here a disservice.

Anyone own one of these? I'm trying to compare this with NP950XDB-KC5US (got it $750)

Entire 16GB is soldered?
8Gb soldered + 8GB SO-DIMM?

I noticed that too but I doubt it since the Intel chipset on similar designs supports larger memory sizes, including on asymmetric soldered/DIMM configurations. So I think 8GB+32GB will probably work.

How many cores & threads are the new intel 12th gen? compared to this deal with 4 core / 8 threads.
