It isn't for everyone. It's rouge like dungeons, no saves, no lives. If you play you must play until you complete or die. When you die. You start over from beginning.
To complete the game you are forced to get better each time you die. You will make farther and farther.
Some upgrades do get saved. But most won't. You lose nearly everything when you die. Weapons, upgrades. The farther you go. The more you lose when you die and have to start over.
Most people will enjoy it
But. I am not one of them. Ended up hating it more than. I like it. Started off fun. Until I died against and again. For about one week. Then i got bored of dying and playing it. Never finished it on console.
I was able to get it for cheaper on Epic games. Has to use cheats to beat me finally. ** ashamed**
If playing through for an hour. And powering up your weapons etc and risking losing it all then start from the beginning is not for you. Don't get Dead Cells on console. Get it PC for less. At least you have a chance to complete finally on PC :z.

Dead Cells is amazing, and they continue to keep putting out excellent DLC with new stages, balancing, etc. One thing you should look at, is the latest update (2.9 - https://deadcells.fandom.com/wiki...on_history) was all about accessibility, and they added options to continue from current stage after death, lower enemy health, lower enemy damage, among other options. So don't despair! There are ways now to make it so you don't need get so frustrated. (and having those changes enabled does not impact the storyline/progression at all, as I can attest at higher difficulty levels)
Dead cells is the best game I've ever played and I've been causal playing games for almost 40 years. However. They do change it all the time. So much content is constantly coming out. Is this a bad thing, no, not at all but they game seems completely different now that it did even just a year ago. Everyone should at least give it a try. It's very addictive.
Going Under is fun. Very funny and I played about 20 hours. Didn't finish it but had no regrets.
Dead Cells is awesome. Hard at first but take your time and then it's a blast. I've put a few hundred hours in over the last couple years
Clockwork God I couldn't get into. You're controlling to characters to work together to manipulate reality so you can advance. It's point and clicky but isn't a true p&c.
YMMV
Crawl is a super fun couch Co op. I played with my son a lot. Easily worth $3 if u have someone to play with. Single player isn't exceptional.
Tony Hawk is what you expect. Holds up. Runs great.
Crash Racing is a blast but the load times are a bit slow. Not painful but they are definitely slow so be warned. It didn't inhibit my joy of playing its story mode but it did keep me from playing it "for fun" after finishing it.

They just released an update making it more accessible. You can edit and change difficulty, attack strength, etc. Goal making it less frustrating to casual players.
Both Going Under and Assault Android Cactus are excellent time wasters. Cactus in particular. Really basic mechanics but the game play is addicting from the start. Going Under is solo and has more to figure out with purchasing, upgrading, and moving from area to area but still easy to pick up for a couple minutes at a time.
