the 12700H is pretty power hungry, any battery stats out there?

There is not much review available yet for this laptop but I can take an educated guess based in similarly configured laptops which got tested.
1st of all, 12700H is going to be power restricted here compared to full sized gaming laptops which can push 90W+ in CU only workloads. As per the various reviews and platform videos I have seen, this can push maximum of 60-65W to the CPU. Since this has a large 70 WHr battery, I think 6 to 7 hours with light usage in 40% brightness is a good estimation.

Seems similar to the $500 Zenbook OLED deal. $600 more for 16GB ram.

Similar to the Zenbook deal earlier. $600 more for a 12th Gen i7 (vs 12th Gen i5, which I believe not significant due to power restriction), more RAM (upgradable 16GB DDR4 vs soldered 8GB DDR5) and larger SSD (512GB vs 256GB)
Not a bad deal, but not excellent though.

You know, not all 12th Gen Processors are same, they have different classes. That ZenBook has a Core i5-1240P with 4P Cores + 8E Cores, which is a P series Processor with base TDP of 28W whereas this one has a H series CPU with Base TDP of 45W which can boost up to 110W. VivoBook 14 Laptops can maintain 60W+ power easily in the CPU during load and that combined with 12700H with 6P+8E Cores, performs significantly better than any P series Processors, even the i7-1260P. Don't guess to much instead of doing a bit research. Even in the last year, there were versions of with 45W H series Processors and some with even a dedicated GPU like RTX 3050 50W and they can handle those CPUs pretty well. But you just guessed that it will have thermal constraints and won't perform better.

i7-1260P have maximum turbo power of 64 W. This laptop is also limited to DDR4 which constrained its performance and IGP vs i7-1260P laptops that usually come with LPDDR5.

The trade off is probably 30% max multicore performance vs cooler, quieter, better battery life, and better gaming

1260P has a maximum turbo of 64W and in almost all Ultrabooks, it can sustain that for couple of seconds. Performance of a CPU cannot be measure by the max allowed TDP which it can sustain for couple of seconds but the sustained Power and almost all the sub 4 lbs Ultrabook where 1260P is present, that sustained power is around 35W-40W (In Yoga 9i series) and below for most other devices. Don't make up stuffs based on guess.
And now regarding the DDR4 vs DDR5, the SODIMM DDR5 4800 MHz doesn't provide performance edge over DDR4 3200, part from the integrated Graphics section, even in far more superior Desktop processors. There are plenty reviews available DDR4 vs DDR5 for Alder Lake, go check those out.
regarding your another guess of cooler and silent system, again that is wrong. ZenBook is very slim and has a single fan inside it to cool the 1240P and in fact in load, it actually becomes very loud. ViVoBook 14 S has a better 2 heatpipe and 2 fan based cooling solution, resulting cooler temp and less fan noise. Battery life, is more or less same because in normal operations, where the CPU is set to Balanced or Silent mode, the Power to the CPU is limited to similar value.

LOL, I was being polite and not outright calling out your BS and you come back spreading more of your BSLMAOLMAOLMAO You think one ultrabook magically can dissipate 60+W while all others in the same weight class can only do ~40W?

Believe what you want, just don't lie to other members to boost your "deals". Base on the number of thumb downs I guess no one buys your BS either

Because I have one and depends upon the cooling solutions it uses, like dual fan dual heatpipe vs single fan and single heatpipe. Your problem is that your whole argument is based on your wild and mostly wrong guesses, not any data points. That's why almost everything you say is pure BS. Let's check a review of the last year's VivoBook Pro 14x with a 5900HX and 3050 Ti, shall we?
https://www.ultrabookreview.com/4...4x-review/
This model I posted here has exact same cooling inside and doesn't even gave the dedicated GPU.

Wow, you are so full of shit you didn't even realize Pro 14X OLED and S 14 OLED are different models and S 14 Intel was completely redesigned for 2022.

You are basing your "research" on owning a completely different model laptop with a much cooler processorApplauseApplauseApplause

I have enough of your BS. With all the thumb downs, I don't think anyone is gonna be fooled by you and that's all I cared about.

No, totally different model, from your article:

Unlike regular VivoBooks of recent generations, these Pros are a little chunkier and heavier, but they also get much faster hardware specs, superior thermal designs, larger batteries, and OLED screens with excellent image quality, contrast, and colors. This way, Asus targets these VivoBook Pros at creators and professionals looking for a versatile multi-purpose laptop on a mid-range budget.

The 2021 S14 has the same single fan cooling of the Zenbook 14. I doubt that's changed for 2022.

Dude, I have the VivoBook Pro 14X and I have checked multiple reviews of the 2022 S 14 model. The S 14 model is actually heavier at 3.31 lbs compared to 3.1 lbs of Pro 14, to accommodate a bigger and beefier cooler to tame the 12700H.
VivoBook S 14 is the premium ViVoBook this year, replacing the 2021 VivoBook Pro 14. Go and check if you can find a Pro 14X for 2022.
As I suggested, use a bit research instead of pure guess work.

It is different and replacing the VivoBook Pro 14 series in 2022 as there are not 14 inch ViVobook Pro in 2022. And I am sure you did not notice it that this S 14 with 12700H is at 3.31 lbs, heavier than the last year's VivoBook pro 14X (3.1 lbs). That is due to the beefier cooler and even slightly thicker design to cool the Intel CPU.

This article says it's a single fan cooler for 2022. You claimed it's two fan, got any link for that?

This model without the dedicated GPU has a single beefier fan with a big copper heat spreader and two thick heat pipes. The versions which will be coming with dedicated GPU (2022 model with dGPU has not been released yet), will have 2 fans. However, this model is a bit bigger and thicker than last year's model to accommodate that bigger cooler and better airflow, for cooling the 12th Gen H series CPU. Below is another review video.

What I am trying to say is that this is not the normal cheap ViviBook S14/15 or K series laptop (Some of those even have OLED) which use normal U or P series Processors and come with vey low end GPU, if any and very moderate cooling solution.
This model is basically replacing the last year's VivoBook Pro 14/14X with VivoBook S 14/14X. S14 and S 14 are actually different series.

And performance wise, this is similar to the ZenBook Pro 14X Space edition and better than the normal ZenBook 14 OLED series.
The the disassembly video below for a 2022 ZenBook 14 OLED showing the internal cooling solution.
https://youtu.be/CEoV3xEYYww?t=35
Now check the cooling solution for VivoBook S 14/14X
https://youtu.be/ZoZZBId-zm4?t=341
That above video also compared it with the 2021 normal budget VivoBook S14 series and you can see how improved the cooling is in the 2022 version.

I think the confusion started when I was replying to the other guy who was arguing why VivoBook pro is the only Ultrabook where other ultrabooks can't and I simply replied that that depends upon the size, thickness and cooling solution and there can't be any logic that if one can't handle the heat implying a different one can't as well and gave the example of last year's VivoBook pro 14/14X with H series CPU and RTX 3050 Ti Graphics.
