Good deal. Worked for many years at a sawmill bucking logs. While bar oil is far better because it lasts longer and slings less mess around, pretty much any oil will work. We mostly recycled used motor oil, tranny fluid, or hydraulic fluid and they worked just fine.

it lacks tackifiers and makes more of a slinging mess..
That being said any bar oil is good. not much difference between the super expensive and cheap. 2 cycle oil is more important(use jaso FD)

PS home depot everyday price is 12.97 for a gallon of echo bar oil.. not sure 10$ for blackmax is a stockup type of clearance.

You know what, you're right... I just double checked and I see it for $7 at my nearest RK as well. Most SD'ers won't be able to take advantage of that deal due to the limited amount of RK locations near many of us (vs Walmart)... but that is a very good price for an entire gallon of specialty oil.
