Just bought 10 qty cause why not. Worse case is I bought it at face value which to me is OK. I shop a lot at this vendor so it's worth the risk.

To me, 25% value is worth the risk to hold face value at the worse case scenario.

First, it's unlikely that you will actually get $20 value per card - we shall see tomorrow. That is irrelevant to this discussion

This still makes no sense. The point is that you STILL could have charged the full $300 to your Amazon card and gotten 5% cashback ($20) in addition to being able to redeem any Amazon point rewards as a statement credit. You would have lost absolutely nothing and gained an extra $20. This potential deal is not contingent on using rewards to pay.

You should never do direct reward redemptions on your credit cards because it negates any rewards earned on that purchase. It's basically rule #1 of rewards maximization. Always charge, and redeem for statement credit after.
