Looking at the Firman's website they have 'black' versions that are spec'ed from them at 25% and their apparent intended purpose is "Home Projects" and "Work", this one is a 'blue' that is additionally rated for "Power Outage" and a lower THD.

Wish my genset was NG when we were out of power for a week. Had to fill the gas tank twice per day, and the lines at the only 2 working gas stations in town were about 90 minutes.

NG is a superior emergency fuel... as long as an earthquake didn't knock it out.

I wouldn't plumb in a dedicated NG line for a genset, I'd just steal the one to the BBQ or other things I don't need like patio heater.
That's a great tip. Unfortunately, I don't have any gas lines already run to the outside of my house so I'm stuck with using a plumber.

I have had this for over a year and it works well. I have it hooked to my house via 50 amp plug, and an interlocked dedicated breaker in my panel. Tested it and it ran everything in my house just fine. (2000 sq ft.) The tri-fuel option was a big selling point for me. Currently I have a large propane tank providing fuel. Some day I may consider hooking it up to natural gas. I paid $599 last year new at Costco.

Highly recommend NG for a BBQ if that's something you do (no more filling bottles). Emergency genset is another way to rationalize the installation.

As an aside, plumbing black pipe is super easy to DIY. Dope the pipe and screw it on. The trickiest part is cutting to the correct length and cutting the threads with a die.

I've got a NG BBQ and patio heater now. Just don't forget to turn off the BBQ. I once left it on to clean and forgot about it for a couple days. Only noticed because my outdoor thermostat which is somewhat nearby said it was 100 degrees when it was 75 outside. Oops.

For anyone who gets this, and can't get it to start on propane. Push start, while moving the choke from "start" to "run" at the same time, will start right up. Couldn't get the darn thing to start, until I did that. The manual is useless. Also, check to see if the negative lead of the battery is unplugged. Mine was, but the two connections were zip tied together so it looked connected. Mine also arrived with the drain bolt out, so everything was coated in oil, and a large black vapor canister (?) broke free during shipping, but I got it back on. After I figured out the start up trick, it seems decent.

I've owned a Firman generator, a different model, but similar to the one above (H07553). These generators do not allow you to remove the neutral-ground bond for two reasons:

1) It voids the warranty (per support);
2) For some individuals it burns out the bridge rectifier.

With that said, it is very easy to remove the N-G bond if you want to (at your own risk). Some other individuals have had success removing the N-G bond without burning out the rectifier.

More info here:
https://www.powerequipmentforum.c...tco.24417/

With that said, the generator itself is great, but I would advise individuals looking to power their entire house to keep the above in mind.
I contacted Firman and requested directions to make the T07571 a Floating Neutral generator and they sent me directions, with pictures, to easily make the modification. Takes all of 5 minutes.
