Game is pretty much dead, only outcome is free-to-play to rekindle the flame or attract new players

Preface: I'm an original kickstarter backer for the game and played in the Closed Beta.
Been awhile since I played but I feel the biggest flaw with this game was that it was CSGO made easier (jump and movement accuracy with weapons in this game is really really high compared to CSGO) but with a COD 2 skin.
Literally made no room for itself, didn't set itself apart in pretty much any meaningful way. The skill ceiling if anything was slightly lower than CSGO and slightly higher than modern CODs. Had this game been released a year or 2 before CSGO maybe it would've had a shot. But it focus so hard on being a competitive shooter that it seemingly missed developing a good casual play field as well.
Hell maybe if there was a single player story mode like the orginial COD 2 had maybe it would've done better.

Before anyone gets excited about this deal, if this is a multiplayer-only game it may very well be a disappointing experience ... as you may have no one to play with. Steam has many games posted on the platform that are basically worthless "orphan" games that cannot be played because no one is playing them.
