I might park on the page and see if it gets an open box.

The version I'm looking at says 1x8GB, not 2x4GB, so it would need another stick for better performance. I would be surprised if HDMI 2.1 is correct as well.

It's directly from the HP spec sheet/page of this model so technically it should be correct.

If it's on the fb0000 [hp.com] page I'm looking at, 1x8GB is an option, and that's what's on the Micro Center page.

HDMI 2.1 is listed which is still surprising to me.

GTX 1650? I know the desktop version was the best small form factor gpu you could buy for slim PC cases and run off the pci-e power slot, but how would this be compared to a laptop with a gtx 2050 or gtx 3050? 1650 has been around for a long while, and there has to be something with significantly better performance in the $600 range that would do better than what this is capable of. Great price, but I'd be leery of buying something with potentially today's equivalent of a 1030.

Also, how will the new product announcements this year be impacting higher tier gpus? I'm not sure this is a great deal but decent for a "need it now" situation with a dedicated GPU.

I am running a 1650 in a similar laptop and it is still chugging along, 1080p gaming at medium to high settings in most of the games I play. A 3050 would be better obviously but if you find one for this price the fit and finish of the laptop is usually rock bottom.

That's discriminatory against the electrophiles. You should be reeducated and take your vaccine.

Quote from Udis :
A 1650 is barely better than newer igpus HDMI 2.1 is doing nothing that 2.0 wouldn't have for this machine. Specs are overly low even at a $550 price point. Below average screen, no backlit kb, 8gb old GPU no dlss support. if you want to play games there's much better options out there for not that much more money.
Please provide us with those options without them being refurbished or open-box. There are hardly any if none at all. The closest is the Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 with the 3050 which is for $599 right now (was $550 a few weeks ago), but that has a noticeably weaker CPU, a screen with a lower refresh rate, and half the storage. Other than that there are no more options if you want a more powerful GPU at this price range. Those are usually above the $600-650 mark at least.
No hardcore or avid gamer would be looking for a gaming laptop at this price to begin with, nor would he be searching for one with a 1650 in it.

Looks like a good deal! And this laptop has an RJ45 (ethernet) port, which doesn't seem to be available on many other laptops.

I wonder why this deal got so many "likes" and another one with intel CPU got dislikes only.
