This is the best android tv experience you will get. My 2015 shield tv still works great. That being said; we are past due for an update (Maxwell based), and even with inflation this still remains at $200 or less. I am going to wait for Ryzen 7000 series which should walk all over this at a higher price point.
I'm used to building an HTPC to go side by side w/ my TV, until I found this. This has been working out great, and it decodes Dolby Atmos well. Much easier to manage this little package compared to having another PC. And Plex is a breeze, once you have it configured.

The only things faster than the Shield Pro is a mini PC. None of the other "sticks" come close.
Yep, but this thing is outdated. They need to add a newer processor and internal memory.

I bought the 2017 version I believe back in 2019 from a google shopping/ target deal. I used it for awhile since I had a non smart tv previously and playing n64 emulators without any lag was great compared to slow Rpi3b+. But have upgraded my tv since and haven't even powdered the shield on in awhile

You must be joking. The Nvidia Shield runs rings around the crappy Roku. And Roku is about to lose a lot of apps because of their greedy "all money must go through us policy"

Firesticks and Rokus are garbage, and even the Fire Cube (yes, I have them all) can't compare to the shield. I even hacked mine so that I can press the nextflix button a short press and open plex. Long press, open netflix and double click it, and it opens hulu.
could you share how to adjust the button settings to hit plex?

Seems like there are a few options out there. Are you using this from XDA? https://forum.xda-developers.com/...s.3361340/

the new updates ruined the shield. buggy and laggy as hell and the remote sometimes doesn't work for a few seconds. can't believe its been so long and nvidia hasn't addressed the lag. farkers too busy raping people on their GPU's than care about users spending only $200 on this piece of shit
So factory reset it and don't do the updates.

Sheesh, what a Grouch.

The 2019 model is much better than the earlier ones (I have them all) and run rings around the Firestick Max (clog clog choke on Kodi if you have anything at al open) and with Gigabit ethernet, too.

This was nice 4-5 years ago, but competitors have caught up and provided cheaper alternatives. Onn box, fire stick max etc.

You don't need this unless you like playing games with your remote control
Are you serious? I have a couple of Shield TV Pro's and Fire Stick Max's and I literally want to throw the Fire Sticks outside the window. They're have a crappy UI, full of bugs with the Plex app, etc. The Shield is the best media player especially if you are into HT.
