Just looked this up, I purchased these for $3.19 for 200 pills via Amazon fresh in march 2022. They increased in price significantly

I have to take it daily for a condition and it would cost 4x this amount to get it via prescription.

What folks do with 400? Unless someone has persistent issues. May be in that case it is better to get prescription med? Sorry, if it sounds insensitive. I am just curious. My doctor once told me that some needs to on PPI for prolonged period.
Unfortunately yes, I have to take one every night before bed or I have serious GERD, no matter what I've eaten that day. AND - I pay $20 for a 3 month supply with my insurance. So 90 pills for 20 with insurance vs 400 for 13 without. I'm not the brightest crayon, but thanks Wellmark? (total sarcasm)

Your doctor can prescribe the med and dosage but you get it where can get it the cheapest.

Depending on your health insurance and prescription drug benefit, over-the-counter meds are often cheaper, so many people buy these common meds OTC.
This is true - i was given a prescription for famotidine from my doctor. If i fill the prescription with my insurance, it's $10 a month co-pay. Buying this OTC is $10 for more than 6 months.

The money I used to spend on PPIs and other drugs like this was insane.

Go keto and Intermittent Fasting and fix your digestive issues. It's amazing how you can feel when you heal your body and get off these poisons.

I realize not everyone can sort out their own health, but everyone can try.

I ask myself the same question when people are posting deals on 400 count of allergy meds - like, are you buying this for a hospital or.....?

My vet has me give these to my dog when he gets "grumbly tummy". 30 lb dog = 10 mg. They work almost immediatly so we can get back to sleep. Problem is getting them down him.
What do you mean, "we can get back to sleep"? Ever hear of a doggy bed?
