CPU Performance wise, Core i7 1260p, when consuming almost twice power than this. 12th Gen has better single threaded performance but in multi-threaded workloads, in 15-25W power pushed to the CPU, which is normally common for this kind of super thin & light laptops, this actually beats i7-1260p. 1260P can only take the lead when 30W-34W power is pushed to it, resulting extremely poor battery life.
You'll be surprised to know that this laptop, despite having a smaller 43 WHr battery, can outlast a lot of Intel 12th Gen Laptops with far bigger batteries, and over 2 hours.

There is no out of the Box option to do so. Normal behavior is Boost to 25 Watt for shorter duration and then running at 17W-20W because due to the form factor, the cooling solution is not capable of doing much.
However, if you want to try, then you need third party tools to modify the TDP. What I use it AMD APU Tuning Utility (https://amdaputuningutility.com/) or Ryzen Controller (https://ryzencontroller.com/) [ryzencontroller.com]. But even if you customize the TDP, it cannot run on 30W constant. Try increasing the TDP by 3W and then run a 10 min Cinebench R23 loop and see if it can sustain that. I would say, 25W-28W max it can go. If you place it on some stand to increase airflow or a basic laptop cooler, then it may be able to get a bit more wattage.

This seems like a good deal even though it's HP. Wish it was 14.4 inch screen though... I think 13.3 might be on the small side...

I've got the same concern. Even if it was a 14" at this price I would've considered with the specs.

I had a work laptop with a 15" screen, but I felt it was too big to be considered easily portable. Ended up being not fitting well in the laptop bag I had used for years and just was too heavy.

This exact laptop is nice and light. Big enough to be usable, but small enough to be easily portable. Smaller screen also helps with improved battery life.

This has great specs for a very portable laptop, but if you won't be moving it much you may want a larger screen.

These look to be some really nice specs for the price. Love that the laptop is so portable and powerful, and has pretty good battery life.

I have an Asus Flow X13 with a similar 16:10 13" screen. If you're using this mostly for streaming videos, then it might feel cramped. But Internet browsing, Microsoft Office, and other productivity usage is really quite nice because of the extra screen real estate at the top & bottom. Check it out!

I picked this one up and the Acer Swift 3 with an intel 1240p from Costco which was $600 and much prefer the Acer so the Aero is getting returned. Better trackpad and a better feeling build. Only issue I dislike with the Acer is if using it as a desktop plugged in the fans are constantly going. Any CPU usage and they kick in and are noisey. Trying to find a way to tone them down without having to reduce the power the CPU is allowed when plugged in.

I would agree with that.
Despite this laptop having great specs for the price and catering to a lot of costumers, the build quality is sub par. The chassis and keyboard flex with slight pressure which isn't surprising considering the weight of this laptop, same issue with the previous Grams. But if you can look past that, then this a great device. The typing experience isn't that good either since the key travel had to be kept minimum for the requiring thickness and weight of the laptop to be achieved.

Thanks for the detailed explanation! Is there a way to force the laptop to run the CPU at 30-34W? Would changing the battery settings to setting to high performance do this?

Yeah, like Suryasis said, probably a 1260P, but these Ryzens are super efficient. The 43Wh battery is adequate for this laptop. I had last year's model and the battery lasted a long time for what I needed.
