I do 3-4 5K's a week. Wife got me something similar to help with my perpetually dry feet, but the instructions read as if your feet are left as such a mess that running is out of the question for at least 1 if not 2-3 weeks.
I run and walk 5 days a week around 4 miles a day. I would not want to lay off for several weeks. I got one in case I pull something and have too anyway. I get annoying callus/corns on the sides of my feet and have been using this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000M8JB2S/. I cover with duct tape and let it stay on for a few days. Usually have to repeat. I can still run with it taped. The callus mostly comes off and the skin eventually peels around where the tapes was applied a few weeks later. You can still run because you get more control where it peels.
