00000All-time low according to CCC. No charger, no batteries. Good deal if you're already in the system for other tools that have been on sale recently. 60m of cutting with the 7.5ah battery, probably significantly less with the other smaller batteries.

Ouch, that really sucks.

There are options to safely repair them on your own if you can solder, but I know that's a small minority of people. Looks like there are some pretty cheap replacement options on Amazon as well.

If you have any non-mower batteries and are in the vicinity of Rochester, NY, I'll buy them off of you.

A couple of years ago, I bought a Refurbed Ego self propelled mower at Home Depot. I tried it for 2~3 weeks then returned it... It had too many flags left after cutting the lawn. Ego customer service only suggested that I cut the lawn twice to stop this problem. I went back to my Honda. Ego mowers are not ready for prime time. JMHO. I also don't like the Ego weed eater (Too long, too heavy, works poorly for edging or cleaning out weeds in concrete expansion slots etc,) However, the Ego edger is great, as is the hedge trimmer, The Leaf blowers are also top quality tools.
Agreed, and I have been using this mower for 3 years now.

Short version is it feels like it was designed not by engineers or people who have actually used a lawn mower, but rather, by a bunch of MBA students at a top-10 program completing a class project where they "design" a product, bring it to market, and get rich.

1) The blade is listed as 21" but the deck is actually 20.9". Standard 21" blades will not fit this model.
2) Like the poster above I had many missed blades of grass. I ended up mostly resolving the issue by installing the high-lift mulching blade (even though I bag when mowing). Still not optimal, but budget around $25 for that blade as in my opinion it is necessary.
3) The mower automatically adjusts the speed of the blade between two fixed speeds, but takes time to switch to the lower speed - this is a good thing. The mower cuts much better on the high speed due to the greater lift generated by the blade. Unfortunately there is no way to force the higher speed.
4) I'm just going to point this out: there is a headlight. That is utterly useless. This is what convinced me this was designed not by engineers but by a bunch of MBA students who never had to cut the grass once in their life. The headlight isn't bright enough to do anything. I'd rather have a switch to force high speed operation.

For reference - I'm all for EVs and electric lawn mowers as it moves the point of combustion of fossil fuels from a source with minimal pollution controls (mower) to one with better controls (power plant) despite distribution losses. But I strongly recommend waiting on the technology to mature another couple years before taking the plunge.

I thought the auto feed string loader was a little overkill, not that hard to do manually. They probably over engineered this with the useless mower headlight. However it still constantly beats the competition regardless of the technology. It's the whole platform that is still developing with new products that I find compelling. The trade off vs gas has me hooked but it's not for everyone. I still have a few riding mowers for the field and a backpack gas blower for the fall leaves. I just take my time and enjoy the quiet and clean operation, makes the job much more pleasant. I don't even have a lawn, I'd rather others pay for them.

I really like the convenience of cordless but am having trouble finding a mower powerful enough with reasonable battery prices. Stihl is the closest I have found. Unfortunately might be getting a Honda gas mower...
Aye....their batteries just do not last. poor engineering.

After owning several Ego tools for many years, Im reconsidering them as a go to tool brand. The reason being is battery life and prices. I have four Ego tools and now only one battery that is still working. From a cost perspective, buying a different brand that charges far less for batteries, and tool, is worth considering. ie SD Walmart cordless mower on clearance recently for only a $130 with 6ah charger. Easy returns and 5 year tool and 3 year battery warranty, same as Ego.
Ditto,

Not to mention the mower as highly rated as it is, leaves uncut lines in your grass and I even upgraded to the new 2 blade mower hoping that would take care of the issue...nope it doesn't, but other brands do not have this issue.

EGO was the only game in town, and that is no longer the case.

*edit* I see a lot of comments on the longevity of the batteries, and the one thing that is painfully noticeable is the sensitivity to heat. Yes I've had 1 battery go bad and EGO told me "too bad" because it was 3.5 years old...but just in using them on a 3/4 acre lot if it is 85 degrees outside, you get half the runtime out of them...but 65 and I finish my lawn with 2 bars left! Really heat sensitive...more than I expected.

Those aren't used batteries I was referring to. You should know that by the price. It is people who buy a tool and battery combo, and sell their battery for less than the store.

I would guess you are a DIYer. Therefore, if you use your Ego batteries every weekend, as opposed to your carpentry batteries when you have occasional projects, obviously the Ego batteries will not last as long.

I love how you ignore the fact that Ego still has good deals. There is a blower deal for a blower on Slickdeals, right now, that is more powerful than Milwaukee's current 1 battery Fuel blower. If you sold the Ego battery, second hand, the blower would come out to be about 95 dollars. That is about 5 dollars more than the typical hack deal for the Fuel blower at Home Depot. If you want to settle for crappy specs over 5 dollars, I won't stop you from being a fool. I referenced the Milwaukee deals on HERE, again. The Fuel blower has been about 85 or 90 dollars, best price, after Home Depot hack.

10+ year old Ridgid bats that have remodeled homes, built work shops, split tractors for clutch, used on cars... compared to 4-5 year old Ego bats that quit and you come up with some lame story about DIY. Nope, no trophy.

Lol Ridgid. They don't even compare to the other names I mentioned in the trades. They aren't even TTI's best brand; Milwaukee is.

Let me know when Ridgid comes out with those great outdoor power tools. Which one is best, do you think?

No one compares to the specs of Ego. Everyone else is playing catch up.

Nope, still no trophy. Only you mentioned Ridgid and out door tools. And if Ego makes such great tools why do their batteries have a bad reputation. Give it up, Ego is over priced now.

I stand by what I say. The stuff you mentioned isn't under a profession you do 40+ hours a week. It's just random projects. That's my point. The Ego tools get way more battery use, when it's a couple hours or more every single week that it is warm, plus chainsaw and pole saw.

You haven't told me any outdoor power tool brand that is better. You just mentioned Hart, which is a joke.

Keep guessing and publicly embarrassing yourself. Already mentioned other tools brands that have better price / performance ratio. And that Hart deal I mentioned received over 74 TU's. How many TU's did this Ego deal get. Your killin me... lmao

You are a fool. Other Ego deals have gotten more thumbs up than the Hart deal. Apparently, you missed when Home Depot clearanced out Ego. If you were smart, you would have gotten the best performance, for an incredibly low price, which would have been better than that crappy looking Hart mower, that isn't even self-propelled. Can you also tell me about that trimmer and blower Hart has? LOL

This isn't a good deal without the battery and charger. I never said this deal, specifically, was good.

Everything you mentioned is a joke in performance, compared to Ego. If you spend less, and get WAY less performance, that isn't a good value. Too bad you weren't smart enough to get Ego when Home Depot got rid of it. Enjoy that crappy Hart.

.

You just agreed with me that Ego used to have very good deals a few years ago.

Hart = 74 TU. This Ego deal = 1 TU.

Also, you pivot and spin more than a politician. Too bad Ego bats are not as tenacious as you. And whats with the name calling. Is that supposed to mean something coming from you. smh

Same. Purchased my mower 5/2018 and this past spring it just sucks. It used to do my full yard, and 4 years later it does one quarter of my yard. Are you freaking kidding me.

No I did not keep it on the charger all the time. I charged it, and removed it for storage. During the long winters I stored them in my temperature controlled lower shed.

Trash man. Just trash.
